Baby Products Reviews of Born Free Twin Pack Wide Neck Bottles, 9-Ounce

Customer Review: Love these bottles!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had a really good experience with bornfree. At the time my daughter was born, Avent (brand of choice) did not have BPA free bottles so I chose to give born free a try. These bottles never leaked nor did I experience nipples collapsing. When Avent came out with their BPA free bottles, I immediately ordered a few. To my surprise, the bottles leaked terribly. This was not good as I've been expressing and bottle feeding. Everyone that fed my daughter with the Avent bottles had problems and its too much of pain to have to put effort in getting the nipple on the Avent bottle properly to fix the leaks (especially with a screaming baby). With born free, I can assemble the bottle at ease knowing that I won't have to deal with any leaks. I am now exclusively using born free and will be donating my Avent bottles. Oh yeah, with born free, I love their 5 oz bottle. It can actually hold 7ozs filled to the top. I found it convenient to be able to feed my daughter 7oz bottles using the smaller bottle. I've been using born free for 5 months now.

Customer Review: LOVE is an understatement!
Summary: 5 Stars

My son has been using Born Free bottles since he was about a month old. He had horrible colic, and were trying different formulas and bottles. We came across these in Longs, and decided to try them out, and never looked back.
In combination with Nutramigen formula these bottles are the best thing that has ever been created. They are comfortable to hold while feeding my son, and hold 9oz. (about 10-11oz if you fill to the brim)
They were a bit touchy at first but once I got the hang of it, its easy as pie. The trick is to NOT tighten them tight, but not to loose. The system isnt a hassle. For people who complain that its SO hard to figure out... you must be totally stupid. Read the directions that came in the box, it clearly states how to if you can figure it out for yourself.
Occasionally the little vent thing will not vent but then I just take off the bottle and the vent and push the vent nob thingy in so the slit will open, and then reassemble.
Best bottles ever created...period.
Try them, and ignore the idiots.

Customer Review: Not as Advertised
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought these bottles after doing extensive research and reading the Baby Bargains book. These bottles are advertised as being clinically proven to reduce colic and gas. They did not work for my baby who has had horrible gas pains since we brought her home from the hospital. We recently switched to another brand and her gas pains have virtually disappeared. Before we couldn't go one feeding without giving her Mylecon and we haven't had to give her any for days now.

The other reason I do not like these bottles is their inserts which make it time consuming to clean and put the bottles together. If they actually reduced gas I probably wouldn't mind, but since it doesn't the inserts are useless and the bottles leak without them.

My advice to new moms is to purchase a sample of several types of bottles and determine which is best for your baby and your routine. Since there are so many more options for BPA free bottles now, you have a good variety to choose from. Personally, I wouldn't choose these bottles again.

Customer Review: Would have given these zero stars, but that wasn't an option
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought these after learning about the issues with BPA. We used Avent bottles and nipples before (which were loved by baby and Momma). After taking nearly three weeks to even get these bottles delivered (ordered directly from Born Free), I was immediately disappointed. They leaked like crazy. I swapped out the nipples with the Avent ones (which prevented the milk from squirting out of the BF nipples, but did nothing for the milk dribbling out the side).

My 11 month old son finally got fed up with milk dripping all over him that he's started hurling them across the room. I got the hint and picked up some Nuby bottles from the store...and all is well.

Customer service from the company has been lacking as well.

Total waste of money. I love the review that said that they leak in every position but standing straight up...because THAT'S an effective way to feed a baby. Sheesh.

I wish there was a way to just send them to the few people who've reviewed them that claim they don't leak!

Customer Review: A safe alternative to Dr. Brown's
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased the Born Free Bottles after reading that the Dr. Brown's bottles I was using had BPA in them that could cause neurological problems in infants. My daughter was 14 months and I was trying to get her off the bottle (without success) so I kept putting off the purchase. I finally bought 2 of the bottles and I am glad I did. It took her a day or 2 to get used to the wide mouth nipple. If your baby is used to a regular nipple they do have to adjust to a different way of sucking with these. I purchased the Born Free over a glass bottle because I wanted a bottle that would reduce the amount of air she got. This does a fairly good good, not as good as the Dr. Brown's (that is why 4 not 5 stars). She still sucks some air when she swallows. It is not recommended to put this in the dishwasher so you have to hand wash them with a gentle soap. I use 7th generation soap. You can still use a bottle warmer though. Overall, a good bottle, decent colic reducer, peace of mind that it is not made of harmful plastics.
