Baby Products Reviews of Born Free Twin Pack Wide Neck Bottles, 9-Ounce

Customer Review: this bottle is excellent to my baby
Summary: 5 Stars

I just changed this bottle from glass evenflow (4oz) to born free for 3 weeks because my baby now is 10 month old and she dislikes formula at this time.
I did use Dr. Brown for my first kid before. However, I have problem on cleaning this bottle. It is really hard to clean the straw which must be used in the bottle. Whenever I washed this bottle, I needed to use small brush to clean the straw every time.... Too many stuff. You would not like to take more time on this part.
Now I am happy to have this born free, no more straw. Everything is easy to clean. My second baby safely and gradually drinks a lot. It seems that she starts to accept formula after using born free. A perfect product.

Customer Review: Leaks terribly and includes annoying extra parts
Summary: 1 Stars

These bottles, which are obviously selling well because of the Bisphenol-A issues, leak like crazy. All you have to do is tip the bottle sideways and the milk comes gushing out like crazy. Makes a huge and annoying sticky mess. My advice, if you must absolutely have these, is to use the Avent nipples on these bottles. They fit and they don't leak at all, even upside-down. The silicone nipple is not implicated in the Bisphenol problems. The Born Free bottles also have a silicone gasket and a plastic insert, making cleaning and filling the bottles very frustrating and unnecessarily complex. I am hoping someone else comes up with a better BSA-free bottle because these are just not working for me.

Customer Review: Huge bottles, expensive accessories
Summary: 3 Stars

I originally got the bottles because they were one of the few brands that were BPA-free at the time. They also hold 9 ounces - the only brand I've found to hold that much. However, be warned that the nipples are expensive and cost $7 for a pack of two. And be careful when buying the three-pack box because they may not come with three ventilating systems. I had to buy an additional two vents for another $7. And my son has a hard time getting his lips around the wider nipple base, but he doesn't complain and still gets fed. While I like the size of the bottle, and I like that the nipples come in different sizes depending on age. But I'm not happy about paying so much for nipples and other accessories.

Customer Review: Disappointing to say the least!
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought these Born Free bottles and nipples, switching away from Avent, mainly b/c of they are bpa-free. The Born Free bottles and nipples are so diappointing in every way. First of all, they are harder to clean (extra 2 piece valve). The bottles leak from the screw on neck. The nipples collapse consistently. Nothing could be more frustrating than dealing with these product issues when you have a hungry baby to feed. Finally, I switched back to the Avent nipples which work on these bottles. If you do buy this product, DON'T invest in the nipples- just use Avent nipples. I am sorry I invested so much $$ in this system..and would just like to warn others on the disappinting performance.

Customer Review: Great bottles, but can sometimes leak.
Summary: 3 Stars

My 10 month old has been using these bottles since he was born and we have never had any problems besides it occasionally leaking. If any liquid gets into the venting piece, it will leak. Our venting piece has been stretched and slightly torn from being cleaned so many times, so it tends to leak a lot more now. What I find helpful is to sanitize it in boiling water or one of those Medela microwave bags at least once a week and it will tighten the rubber and prevent it from leaking so often. For our next baby, I think I will stick with Avent bottles. I never had any leaks with Avent bottles -- only problem was the nipple collapsing, but changing the nipple to a higher level prevented that.
