Baby Products Reviews of Born Free Twin Pack Wide Neck Bottles, 5 Ounce

Customer Review: If your baby sucks too hard and coughs and gags......
Summary: 5 Stars

My newborn has a voracious appetite, and would suck so hard that she would end up coughing and gagging at every feeding! It got to the point that I was nervous every time I fed her! Then I realized that she only did that with the Medela nipples (I had bought both the Medela nipples, which I had placed on Evenflo glass bottles, as well as the BornFree bottles in order to have several options). As soon as I went back to the BornFree bottles, even though she continued to suck hard, she no longer coughed and gagged!! SO IF YOUR BABY COUGHS AND GAGS WITH FEEDINGS, GET THESE! YOU WON'T BE SORRY!
Also, regarding the review that stated that the bottles "morphed into blobs", she MUST have been doing SOMETHING wrong as far as the microwave sterilization is concerned (?maybe not adding water), because that definitely does NOT happen! (Best bet is to use the Born Free microwave sterilizer.) Also, as far as customer service, I also had a good experience - I had e-mailed them requesting instructions for the sterilizer, and received a very quick response!
Overall, an EXCELLENT product, WELL WORTH THE $$$!

Customer Review: Better than Dr. Browns & Avent
Summary: 5 Stars

I have always been a fan of Dr. Browns and Avent bottles, but recently had to throw out 4 Dr. Browns bottles due to leaking and 2 of my Avent bottles also began leaking. I know how to properly assemble both brands, but no matter what I did they continued to leak (mind you, they've only been used for 10 weeks). I have tried every bottle you can imagine (Dr. Browns, Avent, Tommy Tippee, Milkbank, Playtex...) and have to say that I LOVE LOVE these Born Free the best!

PROS:
-They do not leak
-The actual bottle is easier to clean due to wide mouth (as opposed to the Dr. Browns)
-My son has had zero gas with them
-They do just fine in the dishwasher (obviously keep them on the top rack)
-They hold 5oz as opposed to 4oz (like the Dr. Browns smaller bottle)
-They're small & compact, thus easier to pack in the diaper bag
-If you use a bottle warmer, they warm up better/quicker since they're so compact

CONS:
-More parts to wash than the Avent, but same as Dr. Browns (still not a hassle to wash though in my opinion)

Customer Review: Great product, great customer service!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a little puzzled by the most recent reviews of these Born Free bottles. I have had no problems at all with the bottle leaking except if I didn't screw the cap on well (although be careful not to screw the cap on TOO tightly - if you do that you can close off the venting system) While the 5 piece system is more effort to clean, it's well worth it as the venting system is superior to other bottles that we have used.

With regards to customer service, I contacted them last week via the form on their website (www.newbornfree.com) and received a response the next business day. The response was friendly and very informative and when the information provided did not solve my problem, they promptly mailed out replacement parts for me at no-cost. To be honest, I was a little shocked at how GREAT their customer service was - in a day and age of automated responses or outsourced customer service, this was a refreshing change!

Needless to say, we're going to buy the next level of nipples and move up to their 9 oz bottles when the time comes!

Customer Review: Bisphenol-A free bottles, at a price
Summary: 4 Stars

We bought these bottles for our six month old solely because they are free of bisphenol-A. As it turns out, they're great bottles in their own right.

Pros:

* They don't leak (unlike Dr. Brown's), even when resting upside down in a bag.
* Easy to hold. I was put off by the large circumference but as it turns out our son has an easier time gripping the BornFree than smaller bottles.
* Easy to clean.
* Venting system actually works.

Cons:

* Price. If concern over bisphenol-A someday turns out to be a false alarm, I'm going to feel pretty silly spending this much per bottle (nearly $10).
* Size. The large circumference is a trade off. While it does make the bottle easier to hold, it means you can store fewer bottles in a small bag.

Also, be aware that the nipple is very large. It's fine for a six month old, but for an infant who's still learning to breast feed you might need to look elsewhere.

Overall we're very happy with the BornFree bottles.

Customer Review: other bottles have same benefits but are better-my first ever review on amazon
Summary: 1 Stars

I have never reviewed before on Amazon but felt that I needed to review this product b/c I am really unhappy with the quality and what you get for the high price. Please take this into consideration.

I wanted BPA free bottles and decided to register for these. At first they seemed okay but then they started to leak. I already threw one bottle out and realized that the others are leaking too. At first I thought the actual bottle was leaking but now I believe it is the seal between the screw on part, vent, and bottle and I do make sure everything is tight. I am tired of the rings around the bottle when I pick it up. I have to clean my coffee table and desk after using this bottle and am not happy that formula is getting on the wood surface.

For the price of the bottle, I shouldn't have to put something under it before setting it on the table or use another brand's nipple. I am going to try Playtex. They are BPA free and cheaper even though you have to buy the liner-they are BPA free too.
