Baby Products Reviews of Born Free Drinking Cup, Colors May Vary

Customer Review: Disappointing, good idea, not so great design
Summary: 1 Stars

Initially, I thought I liked the bottle. After 2 days of using it, I regretted buying them. Luckily, I only bought 3 (Drinking cups). Such a shame because I would have liked to continue using them (because they are BPA-free). The other reviews talk about leakage and they were right. The spout hole gets bigger, quite easily, not with normal usage I'm sure, but with chewing. The Drinking cup has a hard spout but unfortunately, not hard enough for both my girls (3 yrs and 1 yr). They both like to chew on the spouts. Only Avent sippy cups have survived their teeth...

I found assembling them a chore after using the Avent sippy cups. Takes much longer to wash these (has more parts) than Dr Browns bottles which I've used and hand-washed for more than 2 years.Same number of parts as Avent cups but the Born Free cups has more 'nooks' to clean.

Perhaps I expected too much from a cup that cost $10.99(Babies-R-Us).....

Customer Review: $11 down the drain
Summary: 2 Stars

Our 2-year-old son drinks his soymilk every morning in our living room, so we still use a sippy. We picked one of these up thinking it was a safe version of what we had (he's been using the same Playtex sippies for about 20 months and we have never had to throw one away)...WRONG! Although this cup is BPA-free (hence the two stars), it has some major negatives: 1.) leaks, leaks, and more leaks; and 2.) with just a little nibbling, the end of the spout split wide open. In less than two weeks, this cup was ready for the garbage can. Now, I know they're not meant to be chewed on, but I'd expect it to stand up a little better than it did(he doesn't chew it, just bites down once in a while). As I mentioned, he's had the same sippy cups from Playtex for over a year and a half and the spouts are just fine. It's a real bummer because I love the safety aspect. We'll stick with the BPA sippies or the Foogo straw thermos thingie - it's awesome!

Customer Review: too much work for too much money. Leaks like none other.
Summary: 1 Stars

Well I have to say that I liked the idea of a healthier plastic.... whatever that means. Ultimately this product cost way too too much. These really are ment for older kids on the go. You know once the kids have learned not to spill thier drinks. BornFree's nipple system is just so wrong I don't even know where to begin. I wen't through several exchanges at whole foods and with the company. The "training cup" litterally has an open slit right across it. No matter what you do it will leak. The lid is just a waste. I tried using the x style nipple instead of the slit as well, but the way I see it for this PRICE THIS PRODUCT COULD BE PERFECT AND IT IS NOT.
Bottom line
1. leaks leaks leaks
2. cost too much
3. it's only BA Free and not phathalate free (that's a biggy)
4. does not train toddlers
if you are going try it at least go to whole foods so you can return it after you realize what a waste

Customer Review: LEAKS LIKE CRAZY...USELESS!
Summary: 1 Stars

Concerned about chemical leaching I threw out my old sippy cups and stocked up on these.
The drinking spouts leaked all over the place! Born Free customer service replaced my spouts for free with the training spouts. Guess what..? They leaked all over the place too! If the cups get tipped in any direction they will leak. Your toddler will have puddles of milk on their highchair by the end of a meal and you will have a soaked diaper bag (even with lid on) if you carry them in your bag. Don't even think about letting them use them in the car! One throw under the car seat...you'll never get the rotten spilled milk smell out of your car.
I am giving them 1 star for being a Bisphenol-A free product.
Do yourself a favor and save your money (they are expensive!). Buy sippy cups with a #5 rating on the bottom which is the safest plastic for your child and hand wash them.
I'm totally disappointed!

Customer Review: Another Leaky Cup
Summary: 1 Stars

This cup was very expensive and not worth a penny. First there are way too many parts to assemble. Then once assembled it leaked really bad no matter what I did. Just a note I read one review that said the baby version does not leak but the toddler trainer cup does leak. I got the toddler trainer cup because I wanted a hard spout. The only cups I reccommend are Playtex and Avent. Avent does leak worse than the playtex but they are the only so called leak proof cup that I found with a hard spout for those teething babies and toddlers with handles. My son had to have a cup with handles but was constantly chewing through the soft spouts.I found that the avent brand is pretty leak proof but sometimes you need to readjust them. Playtex are still the best leak proof cups in my opinion they just don't make one that suits my son.
