Baby Products Reviews of Born Free BPA Free Wide Neck Bottles - 5-Ounce Twin PackCustomer Review: Love these bottles! Summary: 5 StarsWe started out the the Playtex Ventaire bottles and switched over to these after recieving a free one in the mail. They are so easy to clean and, unlike the Playtex bottles, don't leak! Plus there are mutliple nipple levels. My 5 month old is on the Level 2 and it's perfect. We swtich from breast to bottle and she has had no problems. The bottles are a little more pricey than the Playtex but they are definitely worth it.
Customer Review: Fantastic Bottles Summary: 4 StarsWe have been using these bottles since the first week she was born. Going between breastfeeding and these bottles/nipples has not been a problem at all! And she has had no problem with air either. We just got lucky I guess that I picked these to go on our registry. But boy am I ever glad I did...
Customer Review: Born Free is no longer the only BPA-free game in town Summary: 4 StarsFor our first kid back in mid 2007, we succumbed to the BPA paranoia and dumped our beloved Avent (Polycarbonate) bottles for these expensive Born Free BPA-free Polyether Sulphone bottles. And they have served us faithfully for two years (our 2 year old is still using them). But I curse every time I have to wash the bottles, with their two extra complicated parts (compared to the Avent bottles). In Sept 2009, we had our second child, and we went back to Avent. Since every other maker of bottles has a line of BPA-free bottles, we no longer have to accept such a complicated bottle with so many extra parts. So this time around, we went straight back to Avent's new Polypropylene (PPE) BPA-free bottles. No more Born Free for us! (But becareful with Avent...don't buy the honey-colored PES BPA-free bottles, which come in the yellow-color box. These PES bottles leak! Buy the PPE Avent BPA-free bottles, which are cloudy in appearance and come in the blue-colored box).
Customer Review: LOVE THESE BOTTLES! Summary: 4 StarsWe tried these bottles after we stopped breastfeeding/pumping and were using my Medela bottles for formula. The Medela bottles started to leak and the formula would get really foamy from the air from her going into the bottle. The BornFree bottles are great. They don't leak, the nipples don't collapse, and the formula doesn't get as foamy. The bit of foam is probably from shaking it to mix the formula. The baby doesn't seem to be taking in as much air, and is spitting up less. At first it was hard for her to latch on to the wide-base nipple, because she was used to the regular nipples. Now, after a week, she has gotten used to them. It seems to have slowed her drinking speed as well - which also helps with her spitting up. I hand wash the bottles than sterilize. The only annoying this is that the extra parts take up too much of the drying space on the bottle wrack. I don't find the extra parts hard to clean at all. I also love that the lid touches the top of the nipple to help prevent leaks when shaking or traveling. The only big downfall is the price. At $9-$10 per bottle, it is quite pricey compared to some others, but the bottles are definitely good quality. Also love the BPA free. I would definitely recommend these bottles to any new mom.
Customer Review: Overall a Good Bottle Summary: 4 StarsI used these bottle while working as a nanny, while I tried Avent for my own baby. Each have their own good and bad qualities, so if you're comparing the products before buying I hope this helps. First, I have never encountered a leak with a Born Free bottle, which is such a plus!! Avent bottles leak ALL THE TIME! Second, Born Free nipples are not as sturdy and occasionally collapse. I've found that this occurs most often when the baby is ready to "graduate" to the next flow stage. I find this is the worst aspect to this bottle, as you have to interupt a feeding to allow air back into the nipple to restore. Third, you have to be careful mixing powdered forumla in these bottles. Just swirl first before shaking in order to prevent powder "chunks" from getting caught in the vent system and not dissolving properly. And lastly, yes it has more parts which can add some time to washing them, but that never really bothered me. Overall, I prefer the Born Free over Avent.
