Customer Review: Boppy Swing- The Good with the Bad
Summary: 2 Stars

Bought the boppy swing for my 3rd baby because of the small size. Easily fits in every room of the house and folds up for travel. For everything I like about it there is something I dont like...

PROS-
small/compact with every needed feature of a regular sized swing
batteries lasted 4 months with everyday use
has a timer and shuts off automatically in case mom/dad forget
music is peaceful and has 2 volume settings
sturdy frame
comfortable seat
lots of different swinging levels
neutral colors easily hide the swing

CONS-
doesnt lock closed when folded so you have to hold it the right way or it springs open
seat was too mushy for newborn stage so I had to put a blanket under his butt/legs to even him out or else his head was compressed into his body.
i wish the pillow could be removed
toys are blah
when my little one began to grab the toys he ripped off the toy bar breaking the plastic clip-- he had this in his hand! Now the toy bar cannot be used at all.
the motor stopped working now that he is 6mos old. in other words, my swing is broken!

With 2 other children at home I know from experience that this is a great swing but they need to fix a few things for not only safety but quality.

Customer Review: EXCELLENT Travel Swing!
Summary: 5 Stars

Compact.
Easy to fold & store.
Easy to get baby in/out.
Good safety features.
QUIET swing.
Good battery life.
Entertaining features reasonable (toys, music).
Works easily, once you get to know it.

This is my first swing (never wanted big, bulky, noisy, or hard-to-store model). I'm on my third baby, who is 6 weeks and ~ 8lbs as of this review. I have had the swing less than a week.

I read LOTS of reviews, and what I found was that there are a few tricks/tips for using the swing:
1. The reference to the baby sitting up too straight might be someone trying to half-fold the seat (as in when you store it). There are two buttons (one on each side) of the seat that you push to TILT the rocker flat or up to about 45 degrees. You can fold the back of the rocker up, and this would definitely set the baby too far forward up (and did not seem safe or secure to me!).
The other reference for baby's head to chest? Well, if the infant is small enough, yes, that can happen. I have a bouncy seat, and it does the same thing. I'm able to position my NEWBORN in such a way (with the pillow behind her shoulders) to help her lay/recline better.
2. Batteries seem to work great! The battery case IS hard to get open and closed, but seems secure. I have had the auto shut-off stop the swing, and I didn't know it was still on. I can imagine if a button were pushed, etc. this would restart the swing and that would drain batteries without my knowing.
3. Auto shut-off at 45 min is annoying, but it does save battery power. Can program for 8, 15, or 30 minutes, but would be nice if the auto were a little longer.
4. Music is soft, has 2 settings, but reasonable. (i.e. perfect for a noisy house, but not annoying).
5. Color scheme, and "comfort" of materials are great. I LOVE that it is machine washable!!!
6. EXTREMELY QUIET MOTOR! I can't even hear it if the other kids are in the room. Someone had a problem with the motor not swinging, and the one time I did, I realized I'd left the "lock" button pushed in.
7. DURABLE! My 2-year old loves to "help" my infant "swing" and I've seen her hang on it. The swing function stops while she's hanging on, or if the swing is moved/bumped (even a little). My four-year-old is able to turn the dial to start the swing, and both older girls love to push the buttons on the front. This will turn on music, but does little else (unless the dial is also turned).

I STRONGLY recommend this swing if you're looking for a portable one. It is light-weight, easy to use (once you get the "tricks" down), and works GREAT. Quiet, washable, rocks gently to somewhat vigorously, easy to install, and does well.

I am looking forward to using this more, and seeing how my baby will grow into it more.

Customer Review: OK Swing with Great Portability and Looks
Summary: 4 Stars

In general, it seems your mileage may vary with swings -- some babies love it, some don't. We liked that this one wasn't a huge investment of money and space for a relatively short-lived item.

The Boppy Swing has served many purposes for us actually. As a very newborn (up until 6 weeks), our son didn't like his crib so the swing became the main napping spot and bassinet. We found the seat to be too deep for a newborn though, so we cushioned him more with folded blankets for better support/posture. In terms of the motion, at first he liked it and it helped him fall asleep; now at 3 months, he doesn't actually like or need the swinging so much, but it's still a handy place to put him down.

Pros:
+ LOVE that it's light and folds very easily and compactly. You can just take it from room to room (great for the kitchen, living room, trip to grandma's, and apartments).
+ Looks good: nice understated colors; the bees are adorable
+ Pleasant music
+ Swinging is nice and gentle
+ Battery life is good; haven't changed the batteries yet with medium use

Cons:
- The curvature of the seat doesn't seem that comfortable for small babies; the pillow is thin and not adjustable
- Not very powerful; it takes a little while to get swinging; babies motion is strong enough to interfere with swing motion at times
- Watch your hands while opening the legs (I stupidly pinched myself badly one time.)

Customer Review: Worth the purchase but not all babies like it
Summary: 4 Stars

My new born son didn't like the swing at first until about his ninth or tenth week. I like that it tilts in two different positions, upright like a chair and back like a bed; I can set it according to his mood (awake or sleepy). Since it is sunken in, it provides a good cradling/swadling support that my thirteen week old son really enjoys now. The seat belt isn't very practical; I wish there was a better design to it. I do have another friend with fifteen week old that hasn't enjoyed hers so this may not be for all babies bust most parents I have spoeken with say their babies really enjoyed it.

Customer Review: Wish I Had this swing
Summary: 5 Stars

I do not own this product. But I have used it. I am definitely buying this with my next baby! I own another travel swing and the boppy is way better. It is super comfy for the baby since it lies flat. My swing the baby sits very upright. And the best part, the activity bar comes in and out so easily. When they are less than 3 months old, they aren't going to notice it anyways, and then you dont have to try and put the baby in under it.

Our current travel swing, took quite the finesse to put the baby in, because of the over head piece. And the toys did not detach so they just got in the way for the baby when he was so little.

The toys could be better. The colors are not attractive enough for the baby. But everything else, music, speeds you cant beat.
