Baby Products Reviews of Boppy Noggin Next Head Support, DenimCustomer Review: Do Not Use in Car Seat or Bed Summary: 1 Stars
As a neonatal nurse, I have GREAT CONCERN that people will want to use this in their cribs or carseats. Although there is a warning not to use in a bed, I worry that many people will use this and it could cause death from potential suffocation. It is best not to add in any "after market" product to a carseat, including the packaged head rests that are found adjacent to the carseat aisle in the store. Only head rests that come included with your carseat - come out of the box with the seat should be used. Additional headrests cause bulk that prevent the straps not to be secured tightly enough over your child and bulk that can cause the baby's head to fall forward and occlude the baby's airway, i.e. cause the baby to turn blue!
Customer Review: Great but lots of space around the head to allow for to much movement. Summary: 4 Stars
My doctor had told me to do more tummy time with my 2 month old because my daughter's head was showing signs of becoming flat. She hates tummy time so I read the reviews on this and figured I would give it a try. I have seen a difference in her head by putting this in her car seat and bouncy seat. I can't wait to go for her 4 month check up in two weeks and see what the doctor thinks. The only thing I don't like about the Noggin Nest is that it offers no head support, there is lots of space on both sides of her head. When you use it in the car seat you may have to add blankets to keep your baby's head from moving all around. Otherwise it is a great product, also my daughter doesn't seem to mind it at all.
Customer Review: This can possibly save you $3000.00! Summary: 5 Stars
My first son had plagiocephaly (distortion/flat spots of the head) and we had to go through the Starband (helmet) therapy which cost us approximately $3000.00 and 8 months of treatment. Our insurance did not cover it - ouch! My second son was showing signs of plagiocephaly and we scheduled a consultation with our therapist. They recommended we use this pillow along with a sleep positioning pillow for a month and come back for a follow up to see if we would need treatment. Our follow up appointment is this Tuesday and we'll find out how successful we were, but using the naked eye our son's head looks much better. I will update this review after we get the verdict from our upcoming appointment!
Customer Review: Like the head cut out, not so keen on long flap that goes under baby's back Summary: 3 Stars
We bought this to keep baby's head stable in car seat. And we liked that it would help avert flat head syndrome. But the long "back flap" which is attached to the bottom (which you cannot see from the photo) interferes with the car seat chest straps. So we folded the "back flap" back up underneath the head, which then made the whole apparatus too thick - raises the baby's head so much that his chin drops forward onto his chest. So we are back to using a rolled up blanket in the car... But the Boppy Noggin Nest does work nicely in the house for his bouncy seat, which does not have chest straps (so the "back flap" can be extended properly, down under baby's back.)
Customer Review: Best Yet Summary: 5 Stars
My son began to show signs of "flat head" syndrome in the back at about 2 months of age. I purchased this item and a "Cinnis" "Premie" (not refering to size but just the item name) head rest. I used the Cinnis head rest when he slept in his crib and the Boppy Noggin when he was in his swing/bouncey seat/and stroller...what a difference!!!!!! He is 3 months of age now and his head is really rounding out nicely. I know some babies need to wear a special helmet if the flathead is severe enough, and thankfully, my son doesn't. I do feel that the Boppy Noggin contributed to saving him from having to wear the helmet. His head looks great!
