Customer Review: I can't understand why there are such good reviews of this!
Summary: 2 Stars

Before my daughter was born I registered for a different play mat that seemed like it would be interesting for a baby. I received this as a gift, so we used this one instead. She was always bored with the toys that came with the mat, and didn't actually have fun on it until I replaced them with new, more interesting toys. Also, I added more of the plastic rings with the new toys so that they would hang down further. When they were closer to her, she was able to reach out to them more easily. And why, oh why, did that bumblebee play only two songs? I'm haunted by them. The day the batteries died on that thing was a wonderful day in our house. It's still on the floor in her play area, although I will probably just put it away soon because now as she is trying to get up on all fours, the mat isn't giving her the traction she needs - she just keeps slipping over and over. The redeeming feature of this mat is that it is machine washable - which is good, because it acts like a magnet for dust and cat hair. My sister-in-law is pregnant and this is the only thing I told her to avoid at all costs.

Customer Review: Hours of fun!
Summary: 5 Stars

This play mat provided hours of play time for my daughter and has grown with her developmentally. She started out laying on the pillow and staring at all the toys. She then moved on to batting at the toys. Once she started learning to roll over it really became her favorite toy. Now that she is 7 months old we took the toy bar off of the top and she still plays on the mat. The mat is also convienent to take with you when you go to someones house for a place to play. I do have to say that the musical butterfly is motion activated and while my daughter loved it, it did get old for the adults pretty quickly after she learned to set it off constantly. We switched over to a different hanging toy after awhile. I also bought more links so she could reach the smaller toys more easily.

Customer Review: Morning workout
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter loves it and spends forever on it. It helps wear her out. My boy can only take a few minutes of it, unless I stick them both on the mat so he has fun with his sister. They love the butterfly and the mirror. Because she spits up a lot, I use it in the morning before she feeds (while I feed her brother). Or right before her midday nap. Yesterday, because I wanted them to retire early, they "went to the gym" right before bedtime. They usually only prefer to use it once a day, but the smiles and coos are so well worth it ! ..Not to mention the exercise for them, and peaceful time for me! Everyone told me not to get it, it is a waste of money. Boy am I glad I did not listen to the advice ! And my husband is glad too ! This and the fisher price rocker are God sent !

Customer Review: Just wanted to say the mat and pillow washed brilliantly!
Summary: 5 Stars

Baby is due any minute and I was really loathed to wash the Boppy Play Mat just because it was so nice and new. But, I knew I had to for my own peace of mind. I used cold water, baby washing powder and a delicate cycle. I washed each item individually. I did not wash the toy rails or the toys. The two items I washed have come out of the machine looking completely new.

I air dried the play mat. I reckon it looks better than it did before.
I used a delicate drying cycle on the pillow. It came out totally fine.

I guess if baby throws up on the mat then I won't be using the "delicate" "cold" wash cycle. But, I just wanted to share how happy I was that I didn't ruin this play gym before it was even used!

Customer Review: He can finally entertain himself!
Summary: 5 Stars

The first day I put him in the gym at maybe 3 weeks he stared right at the yellow bug. I think it's because it looked like him. He is now 3 months old and since then he has discovered the musical butterfly, the blue whatever-that-is, and I love the fact that I can hang new toys on it and change where everything is, to keep it "new" for him to discover. As he grows he is able to stay in it for longer periods of time.

We put a foam mat underneath it so he can do his tummy-time on it without the boppy, though. Although the base is well-made, it is not quite thick enough, in my opinion, to prevent him from bonking his head if you have hardwood floors.
