Baby Products Reviews of Boppy Bare Naked PillowCustomer Review: Expandable Middle IS a Miracle Summary: 4 Stars
I have two Boppies -- an original Boppy and one with a Miracle Middle. I have been having a difficult time with latch and positioning with the original Boppy. I bought a second one (for the second floor of my house) today, after contemplating buying a My Brest Friend instead and I am SO glad I gave Boppy another chance. Something about the Miracle Middle has made nursing just come together for us all of a sudden. Positioning and latch are happening and the Boppy is playing a major role. The Miracle Middle is definitely a miracle!
I will be consigning the original Boppy and buying a second one with a miracle middle.
Customer Review: Not great for nursing, but works well for tummy time Summary: 3 Stars
I did not care for this pillow when used as a nursing pillow, the pillow went all the way around my waist, making it impossible to sit back in the chair, causing back strain. Having to lean forward to nurse was not comfortable. This pillow is great for tummy time, I put my son in the pillow with his arms over the middle, the ends were under or over his legs and then I put toys in front of him to keep him entertained, at first he just looked at them, but as time went on he would reach for the toys. I had a Boppy when my daughter was little also, she used the pillow as a toddler to read and such. This is not a must have item.
Customer Review: Not recommended for breastfeeding Summary: 2 Stars
I got the boppy for helping hold up the baby during breastfeeding. If you want a product for this purpose, I'd recommend trying a different one -- perhaps the breast friend? Because the edge of the boppy curves down, the baby falls into that crack / lower spot. It's just awkward. Also, it's better to have the baby's head higher than their tummy to avoid acid reflux (trust me -- you'll care about acid reflux :)), and so you'd have to somehow tip the boppy, which I never figured out how to do. I ended up not using it at all and just using a little square pillow under my arm that was holding her head, and no pillow under her bum.
Customer Review: Not so great for nursing, But good for baby. Summary: 3 Stars
The "miracle middle" boppy didn't work for nursing my son. I am average sized with a very large infant, and it just slid out from underneath him when I used it for breastfeeding. It would work much better with an adjustable strap to hold it in place, like the "my breast friend" pillow. I gave it three stars though because we use it often as an infant seat. My son can recline in it, and it has been great for tummy time. But go to the store and buy one with a slipcover already on it. I got one at Target with a slipcover & a year long magazine subscription for about the same price as a bare naked boppy.
Customer Review: Make sure you get the one with the Miracle Middle! Summary: 5 Stars
I had the old version of the boppy with my first born and hated it! I had problems with the fit around my waist ( I am a size 10/12) and there was not enough stuffing in the pillow to prop my daughter up to my breast to eat. I had received the new version of the boppy from my mother and decided to give the new version with the 'fits all waists' middle a try. The pillow looked thicker than the old version and it felt like a better fit around my middle. My son is now 14 days old and I have used this pillow everyday to feed him. This pillow does everything that the old version had promised.
