Baby Products Reviews of Boppy Bare Naked PillowCustomer Review: Extremely Useful Summary: 5 Stars
This is an essential item for feeding! (Bottle feeding, as well as breast feeding.) My husband and I both use this to help position our new baby. It's saved our shoulders and backs from pain and keeps our baby comfy so he'll drift off to sleep after he eats. It also makes it easy to keep hold of him if he tries to squirm!
When mealtime is over, I've even used it as a comfy pillow for my neck and head while I sleep on the couch if my newborn decides he wants to sleep in his infant seat rather than his crib!
The cover comes off for washing and we've had no trouble with the pillow getting dirty at all. If it did, the pillow is washable, too.
Inside the pillow's package was an offer for a magazine that we didn't want. I opted to take the $7.00 rebate check. I also was able to get a $15.00 rebate check for the Amazon magazine offer promotion they were running when I bought this pillow. The Boppy pillow was an excellent buy for $3.00!
Customer Review: Not a good nursing pillow; get "My Brest Friend" instead. Summary: 1 Stars
I completely agree with the review posted by the user: "Jacob's Momma." The Boppy is NOT the ideal pillow for nursing, but it is good for letting my baby lie on to rest/sleep and as a support pillow for burping my baby in a sitting position. For a good nursing pillow, get "My Brest Friend." I got the Boppy first, and it is too soft to support my baby for nursing. It also constantly slips away from me, and my baby tends to slip between me and the Boppy. For these reasons, my back felt strained when I used the Boppy for nursing. Then, I bought "My Brest Friend" and it worked great -- all the problems that I just mentioned were solved -- it's firm and supportive, and it also "locks" around my waist so it won't slip. Check out the reviews for "My Brest Friend" before buying the Boppy as a nursing pillow. Final FYI: I've seen the Boppy sold at Ross for $19.99 and that includes a fleece cover, so keep an eye out for it if you want a bargain.
Customer Review: Wonderful and versatile Summary: 5 Stars
We love Boppy! It is great for nursing my baby in a variety of positions, whether I'm sitting up or lying down, whether she is in a cradle hold, football hold, or whatever-she can even lie on her side on it while I nurse her while lying on my side!-comfortable as arm and baby support for other family and the babysitter to give bottles, props the baby up when you sit her in it to interact with her, provides support for me if I want to use it as a pillow for my head or back, helps with tummy time, etc.
It is durable, and the covers you can get for it are durable, too, easy to clean, comfortable, and come in such a variety of colors, patterns, and fabrics that there is really something for everyone; there are even more styles available than seen here on Amazon. We even have a hand-me-down that went through two other kids, and it is still like new.
We have the Nautical/Dino Baby covers as well as a plain denim one.
Customer Review: Not for younger babies - thicker than original boppy Summary: 3 Stars
I have twins and already owned the Boppy Classic Nursing Pillow with Soft Boa Slipcover, Teddy Bears which I use for propping the babies after feeding. I bought this boppy so I could put both babies down after feeding in a propped position.
Out of the bag, I noticed that this boppy was firmer and thicker than the old one. Due to this, the babies would slide down the middle of the boppy and wouldn't stay propped on their back. This was dangerous because they would end up with their faces tucked in the side of the boppy. Also when I used it for tummy time, the increased height meant that when the babies kicked/pushed forward, they would tip over headfirst and could hurt themselves.
This pillow may work for older babies who can sit unsupported, but it's not the best purchase I've made for my 3 month old twins.
Customer Review: Middle insert NOT stretchy. Summary: 3 Stars
I was really looking forward to this expandable Boppy since the regular version bunches so badly in the middle when I put it around my torso. The Miracle Middle pillow insert is just an extra piece of fabric sewn between the seam on the inside curve of the pillow. It does not stretch at all and the stitching pulls very hard on the fabric if you wrap the pillow around you. If you pulled on the inner curve seams too much they would probably tear out because the fabric panel has no give. The pillow also draws inward along the outer curved edge and bunches, just like a regular Boppy does. Functionally it still does its job, but in terms of construction it was quite a disappointment - I could have made one for less money and put a more stretchy panel insert in (free nursing pillow patterns online!!). Definitely test this version of the Boppy at the store before you spend your money on it.
