Customer Review: Essential for first-time breast-feeding moms!

This has to be one of the best inventions for first time breast-feeders! It helps support the baby and get her at the right level so that mom can use both hands to get the rest of the activity squared away (which can be a real challenge at first!). It is especially helpful for the 'football hold' which is how I fed my daughter for the first few weeks.
After a while I found that the boppy was more of a nuisance to use while breastfeeding than as a helpful support, so now I use it to prop up my baby. She can face forward on it (in a modified version of tummy time) or more often I lay her on it so her head is up off the ground and she has more to look at than just the ceiling. It has come in very handy when she wants to play in her activity station because the hanging toys are a lot closer to her grasp than they are when she is just lying flat on the floor.
You do have to purchase a slip cover for the boppy, which just ads to the cost, but is also a lot easier once it comes time to do laundry (which you do A LOT of!) There are a millions different slipcovers to choose from which makes it fun to customize for your own baby.

This product is one of my baby must haves. It makes breast feeding so much more comfortable and if I have to feed my baby out of the house without it I miss it terribly. Getting baby into position is easy and I have no arm strain because the pillow supports all her weight. I saw a reviewer that said you need another person there to fit it around you, that is frankly rediculous. Hold the baby cradled in one arm and use your other arm to position the pillow around your waist. It's not difficult and I've never needed assistance to get the pillow positioned just right.
I've also seen the other reviews about it not working for tall people ... I am 5'10'' and have a pretty long torso but have absolutely no trouble with it and do not need additional pillows underneath the boppy to get baby to the correct hight. I do have very large breasts though (G cup), so maybe smaller breasted women will need a bit of a boost under the pillow.
I use this for every feed day or night and my husband uses it when he gives her bottles. Neither of us will do without it. Great shower gift and the organic cotton slopcover is heavenly soft.

This product is WONDERFUL and a MUST to have with you wherever you decide to birth your child! Hospital pillows are as thin as anything so this is a very desirable item to bring with you. What better way to first learn how to nurse, than to do it in more comfort then the hospital can provide.
Yes, it does bend in the middle after a while, but by then, baby is bigger and is able to handle it. This pillow puts the baby in great alignment and makes nursing much more enjoyable. It's great to help support baby when sitting as well as strengthening the tummy muscles during tummy time. It's comfortable to use after baby no longer needs it as well!
They say not to wash and dry it in the machines but I did anyway with both of mine and did not have any problems. Changing out covers is great too! It was nice to "freshen" them up once in a while and to have the ability to better compensate for the weather.
I would rate this product as a must have for all new moms! With this one in particular, you don't have to worry about matching the new mom's decor during gift giving. She can pick whichever cover she likes!

Ask any new mom what their favorite baby product is and they will have a impassioned review of an item that 'saved' them during the those bleary first few months. For some, its the fancy breast pump that at first seemed too expensive and later became the cherished gateway for a few hours rest. For others, its the mechanical swing that allowed them to do some laundry or eat a meal. For me, its the Bare Naked Boppy. A pillow for breast feeding? Oh it's not just for breast feeding. Sure, it provides the perfect little platform to rest your tiny one while she eats. It frees up you hands to do such essential 4 am activities as flipping channels looking for something that isn't an infomercial on TV. The boppy is an appendage, a constant companion. Its good for a million uses, most of which are clearly warned against on the label. Most of all the boppy is part of the ritual of feeding that I found so helpful in establishing breast feeding. The bare naked version allows you to easily wash the cover. The only way I would improve this product is to install a pocket that holds extra burp clothes so you dont have to go running for one in a pinch.Customer Review: Not a nursing pillow.

This pillow is great for sitting your baby on your lap or for letting him nap on your lap. It's even better to prop your baby up with for tummy time or to sit. It's not great however for nursing. I talked to a lactation consultant and found that the Boppy was NEVER designed to be a nursing pillow. It was terrible for my back. I couldn't get our baby aligned properly which was very stressful just starting out nursing. I had to prop pillows under both sides to try to get it right. At my lactation appointment they had a My Brest Friend pillow. This pillow is fantastic. It keeps the baby aligned properly with your breast. Which makes it so much easier to get your baby latched on correctly. I have a My Brest Friend at home and in my car for going out. I have been successfully nursing for going on 9 months now. I would never have gotten this far with the Boppy. Please, try the My Brest Friend instead.
