Like the two other Boon products I purchased, I fell for this one because I thought it was cute and innovative. Wrong. I make my own baby food so it's not super smooth and pureed like commercial baby food - it contains a few lumps here and there. Unfortuantely, the Boon spoon doesn't handle lumps so well so while trying to squeeze mashed yams through, a lump must've gotten stuck in the hole, so the pureed part of the yam squeezed back out in between the base and the spoon. Big mess, waste of money. Maybe good for folks who use store-bought baby food or perfectly puree their own baby food. Frankly, I don't have the time to finely puree my own food or the patience to deal with more spoon explosions. So now this spoon is parked in the failed product section of our child's toy bin. I recently bought this item (in Orange as to be more gender neutral/future proof)and I have to say that though I was skeptical at first, I am completely amazed with this product! My 7 month old has been spoon feeding (recommended by her doctor to do so)for almost 3 months now and she is an avid eater! She gets upset and screams the second the spoon leaves her mouth while i dip it back into the baby food to get more. This product has decreased feeding time from the usual 20-30 min to about 10. I spoon the food into her mouth, briefly pull it back it squeeze and refill, and then return it to her when she opens her mouth for more. This item deserves 5 stars no doubt about it! And the cap that come with it make this perfect for tossing into the diaper bag and taking with us wherever we go.Customer Review: Must Have for Baby!!

Yep, this is one of those "why didn't I think of that" ingenious innovations. I wish my 11 month old still liked his purees, so I could still use this!! It's absolutley great for traveling and on the go. You simply pack a jar of baby food and this spoon, then when baby is ready to eat - empty the jar into the spoon and feed! The spoon comes with a cover, so it's perfect for carting around. Because the food squirts out into the spoon - it's virtually mess free. No need for a bowl at all and the food goes right into baby's mouth. I used this at home too when I was lazy and didn't want a big mess to clean. Also - if your baby ever goes through a not-interested-in-food phase - this helped to get some substance into him, I think he really liked the big orange shape.Customer Review: Great for traveling

I only bought this for our trip to China, but it turned out very convenient for eating out at restaurants as well. My husband actually liked it even more than I did. Everyone asks us where we got it. I mean, EVERYONE! It's actually fine that it's best used for smoother, level 1 or 2 foods, because my daughter, though she is almost one year old now, still has only two teeth and prefers very smooth texture. So we actually got a lot of mileage out of this spoon, though we bought it when she was almost nine months old. I gave it four stars because if you put food with thicker texture like green beans and brown rice in it and squeeze the handle, it makes a farting noise. the idea of this spoon is brilliant.
I love having an extra hand free when feeding my daughter. She tends to gets her hands in the way which makes a mess so having an extra hand helps me eliminate that.
I honestly didn't like it at first because I was combining rice cereal and her puree. Which makes it really thick, and it spits out and makes a mess, but when i use just her baby food puree it makes LESS of a mess then a normal spoon. So I wouldn't recommended using it for anything but the plain puree.
Also, using this spoon makes the feeding process way faster. She eats her food in half the time!
So overall I love having my boon spoon!
