Baby Products Reviews of Bébésounds Angelcare Deluxe Movement Sensor with Sound MonitorCustomer Review: Great peace of mind if you want to start the crib from day one Summary: 5 Stars
I am of the strong belief that starting your baby in the crib on day one saves you a whole lot of grief in the long run and everyone sleeps better (no transition if baby doesn't know anything else). My husband didn't think it could be done, but this monitor helped us make it happen. Believe me, when you are completely exhausted and suddenly, at 2 am, it gets "too quiet" in the nursery, that little metronome image rocking away helps you go right back to the sleep you desperately need. Like other parents, I tested it with weight and movement and it did everything it was supposed to do. The temperature gauge is useful for us, as it turns out our nursery is the coldest room in the house and it helps us make sure that his temperature is regulated. Friends have video monitors but, frankly, I care less about what he looks like sleeping (I see that a lot) and more about whether he's breathing!!
Customer Review: This monitor is great! Summary: 5 Stars
This monitor works great, just like advertised. Despite the size of the sensor, it will pick up movement anywhere on the mattress. The sensor is so sensitive that it picked up the breeze created by the ceiling fan, no kidding. I had to adjust the sensitivity to compensate. The sensor pad needs to sit on something solid to work correctly. I was able to get a small square piece of plywood from our local home improvement center for under three dollars that worked fine.
The audio works great also on this monitor. Loud and clear. This monitor has a lot of good features, like voice recognition. The voice recognition won't kick in with subtle noise like the music, but it picks up the baby noise right away. I would pick this monitor over one of the fancy video monitors any day. A video monitor will not alert you if your baby stops moving, this one does. Highly recommended!
Customer Review: Best money we spent Summary: 5 Stars
This monitor is worth every penny, and more. You can feel comfortable leaving your baby alone to sleep when you know this thing is on the job. My son had severe reflux and would not sleep on his back. This product let us sleep, which is invaluable in the early stages. There is the occasional "false" alarm, when the sensitivity isn't set just right, but it's gone off twice when my son has been in a very deep sleep and I couldn't see or feel him breathing, he probably would have come out of it on his own, but this monitor was there just in case.
The first one we bought was defective, it worked for a couple of months and then one of the monitors stopped charging. We bought a second one, and after it arrived, we returned the first one, we didn't want to put him to bed a single night without it! I love this product, can't say enough good things about it.
Customer Review: Really a great product. Summary: 5 Stars
I received this as a gift. I had registered for a much simpler baby monitor, and I thought this was kind of over the top, but I'm so glad I got this one. Having two cordless parent units is VERY convenient, and I love the fact that I can even monitor the temperature of her room if I want to. There are a lot of features that you can choose to use if you want, or you can simply turn them off, but they're there if you ever want them. Be aware that the under-mattress sensor is very sensitive and will even pick up vibrations from ceiling fans and mobiles, etc, so you kind of need to make sure that anything that will interfere with the sensor is off. That's a good critique, though, because it means that if something happens and your baby stops breathing, it will pick up the lack of motion and alert you. It is a really awesome product, and well worth the money.
Customer Review: All monitors should be made this way Summary: 5 Stars
As new parents, we understand why tradtional baby monitors are good for listening to hear if your baby cries and you are in a part of the house/apartment/condo where you can't easily distinguish crying baby from, say, neighbor's tv. This monitor is great, though, for letting you sleep while the baby sleeps. Even though the incidence of SIDS/suspected accidental smothering has gone down dramatically with the teaching that babies should sleep on their backs, apnea (stopping breathing) does happen in a handful of cases without known reason. The AngelCare movement sensor is sensitive without causing additional anxiety. Having a movement sensor allows us to really feel like we can fall asleep when the baby sleeps. Works well as a traditional monitor, too, and would like to see all monitors come with a motion sensor.
