Baby Products Reviews of BébéSounds Angelcare Movement Sensor w. Sound Monitor w. Two Parents' Units

Customer Review: an absolute must have!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I truely believe that every crib should have this monitor. It is such a wonderful security to know that if something should happen and your baby stops breathing that you would know within 20 seconds and be able to respond. As a new mom I was terrified of the thought of SIDS and was constantly getting up to check on my son (of course even every half an hour wouldn't be often enough if your baby stopped breathing). I finally got my first good night sleep when DS was 1 month old and I first put this monitor in his crib(I say good night's sleep... you know the 2 hours segments between feedings). I still use it in my son's crib now at 16 months old and have gotten a second one for my "daughter on the way"'s crib. In the 15 months of use we have had maybe 5-10 false alarms where my son rolled so far to one side that it couldn't pick up his movements. The ocassional false alarm does not bother me... I would rather be woken up to check on him than have something happen and not know. I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't try and do all they can to make sure their baby is safe throughout the night and this monitor definately helps give some peace of mind.

The sound monitor portion works great too. We don't have any static and can hear our son clearly. Even now and then we do pick up some random phone calls or radio calls... which is very strange to hear but all in all it works great... better than 2 different brands of the basic sound monitors we had tried before we got this system.

Customer Review: How did I survive my first child's first year?
Summary: 5 Stars

I received this monitor as a present from my aunt when my second son was born. I could never thank her enough for the nights of restful sleep I have gotten.

When my first son was born I was so afraid of SIDS that I wound up sleeping with him on my chest in the recliner for the first four months of his life (until he started trying to turn over on his own). After that he slept in the bed with my husband and I, so that I could sleep with my hand on him to feel his breathing. As he got older and I felt more comfortable putting him in the crib, or later on in the toddler bed, he refused to sleep in them because he only felt secure sleeping with us. He just turned 4 years old and has only been sleeping in his toddler bed for the last 3 months, before that he was still sleeping in our bed.

This monitor allowed me to feel comfortable about putting my second son in his crib and actually allowing my self to drift off into a deep, restful sleep. Before I got the monitor I would put him in his crib, pull the crib up next to the bed and stick my arm thru the slats to put my hand on him to feel him breathing. Imagine the mornings I woke up unable to move that arm!

My brother & sister-in-law just found out they are expecting their first child and I already told them this will be their baby present from me. There is no better gift for a first time mom than this monitor.

I wouldn't call this monitor just a life saver, it is a sanity saver!

Customer Review: Mom of 3 and expecting
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the best monitor I have every purchased and I should know between the three kids I have the 5 I have purchased as gifts I have bought 8 of these in 5 years. Everyone I have ever bought one for has loved it. I don't believe our five year old would still be with us without it. When my 2nd was 6 months old she stopped breathing in the middle of the night. The monitor gave its 15 second warning and at 20 seconds began going off. My daughter was a stomach sleeper but because of this monitor I didn't mind. She was right in the middle of the bed, did not have her face buried in the matress but was not breathing. When I picked her up she gasped for air. By the time the monitor went off and I got up the stairs I would bet it had been 35-40 seconds of her not breathing.

This monitor is a true lifesaver and I recommend it to anyone and everyone. I even stop people in the monitor isles of the stores to tell them about it if they are looking at a different monitor.

As the child gets older and learns how to role you do have to adjust the sensor to ensure it is able to catch the entire bed but I would not give this up for anything. My daughter and son bothed used it until 2 1/2. Now with expecting our fourth I would never purchase any other monitor.

I have a 3500sqft home with a large yard and we are able to take the monitor with us throughout and have never had a problem with hearing it. This is a god send!!!!!!!

Customer Review: The ULTIMATE must have baby moniter
Summary: 5 Stars

Our daughter stopped breathing when she was 5 weeks old. We did not have this moniter YET. I walked in and found her blue, we revived her and spent a week in the hospital. There was no diagnosis except acid reflux ... very common. Our biggest fear was that we were told we would NOT be going home with a breathing sensor to tell us if she stopped breathing again. My sister researched medical suppliers and baby infant moniters that we could purchase. This was rated so highly we decided to try it. My daughter is now 7 1/2 months old, and we can actually sleep knowing that if something happens this moniter will go off. Yes it REALLY does work. And the other Mommies are right, it is simple, portable, and very clear. Make sure that you cut a piece of plywood to put the sensor on, you then put your matress right on top of that. And yes the system is small and portable!
For all the people that I have read about that don't like this product: I can tell you now having used it for over 6 months you probably aren't setting it correctly. It is upsetting to read comments from people that hate this product. They seem to have used it because they thought it would give them piece of mind, and it appears they set the sensitivity level too high. From parents that had to use this to know when our daughter stopped breathing this is wonderful. It is my NUMBER ONE gift for new parents, and I will recommend this to anyone. I just wish we had it 5 weeks earlier.

Customer Review: Preemie Mom's Peace of Mind
Summary: 5 Stars

As a mom of a premature baby (2.5lbs, 2.5 months early) I was used to seeing every heartbeat and every breathe my child took listed on a monitor above his bed in the NICU. He came home after 5 weeks on an apnea monitor which helped me sleep at night those first few months. He did have apnea spells where he stopped breathing fortunately he always started on his own again. This scared me... I knew my son did stop breathing sometimes for more than 20 seconds... what if one time he didn't start. After 6 months on an apnea monitor his doctor felt it was time for him to sleep without it... the only problem I couldn't sleep without. This unit gives me peace of mind. I can watch his movement's blip on the monitor. I have never had a false alarm with it but I know some people complain about it. Trust me as a mother who has seen he son stop breathing what a relief it would be to run into the baby's room and his is breathing. Also I should remind many of those people that I was told by our neonatlogist that the alarm would usually bring our baby out of his apnea so it is very possible that those false alarms are not truely false but a baby who stopped breathing and was "alarmed" out of it. I am not worried about it going off I WOULD BE worried if it wasnt sensitive enough. My brother is a sheriff deputy and just this winter season he has gone to 2 sids deaths...anything i can do to protect my baby i will...I think all moms daycares grandmas should have one
