Customer Review: Was not satisfied and returned product!
Summary: 2 Stars

I understand the fretful parent that worries over the baby and if she/he is sleeping or if there is a problem as I am one of those parents. I worried constantly about my little one and still do. When I first saw this monitor I was so very excited and I purchased it almost immediately prior even to my babies birth. I thought, now this is something that will make me sleep easier, but the reality was that it actually did not change my fretfulness one bit. We actually did not even plug in the monitor for 4 months because we kept her in our bedroom for those months. Some parents move the baby in the first month, and some parents keep them in their room for much longer. Every parent is different and you just have to decide what kind of parent you are...if you want to keep the baby near then there is almost no need to actually purchase this kind of monitor. AND, every baby is different, for the first 4 months mine refused to sleep for more than 40 min. at a time and wanted to sleep downstairs where the action was so I never turned on a monitor as she was wherever I was. When we did put our baby in her crib she NEVER stayed where we put her so the monitor was constantly going off, because of that we just dismantled the crib monitor. After only a few months of using the handheld portion of the monitor there started to be constant static on the monitor. I tried absolutely everything and nothing worked. It was very frustrating and I finally just stopped using the monitor completely. I felt that the amount of money spent was not worth the fact that there was a constant stream of static that you would have to listen to all night long.

Customer Review: I can sleep!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Even with this being my third baby I still was terrified to have him sleep where I couldn't hear him. This has made it so I can sleep. We tested the alarm feature numerous times before I put my baby down to bed in a different room and I am satisfied that it works. We've had no trouble with false alarms. Remember to turn off the alarm after you take baby out though. We didn't put the board under the matress but used a square cut from cardboard box left from when we moved. It works fine. I strongly recommend having two monitors so you can leave one in your room and put the other one where you are during the day. I don't like the tic feature but it can be used to reasure the most nervous parents that the baby is still moving. It took us about 20 minutes to get everything set up because we did read the instructions. I strongly recommend this monitor to nervous parents and to others just as a precaution. It's great! -- I just thought I'd add an update. We have now used this monitor for 6 months. It is the best baby product I have ever bought. We had the alarm sound twice when our baby was under 2 months. Even though when we checked on him he was fine. We have had the pre alarm beep sound a couple times since he has gotten more wiggly. When that has happened he has been well off the sensor pad at the top or bottom of the crib. That tells me that the couple times the alarm really sounded there was probably a reason. I attribute part of the reason this baby is a good sleeper to the fact that I don't disturb him while he sleeps by touching his tummy to see if he is breathing. I am very very satisfied with this monitor.

Customer Review: You will love this
Summary: 5 Stars

I teetered back and forth when deciding whether or not to buy a motion detecting monitor. I am extremely glad that I did. This monitor, in particular, is fantastic. The other reviews provide most of the details, but I wanted to add:
1) While it's true that the sensor will false-alarm if you pick the baby up without turning it off, it does provide a quiet warning beep first that will remind you and allow you to turn it off before it actually goes off.
2) Though other say that the sensor may also false-alarm if your baby moves off of it, my little one moves all over the crib and I've found that it picks up her breathing just fine. I was worried that it would go off if she moved off of the pad at all, and that's not the case.
3) I never thought I'd use the ticking option (emits a soft tick with each movement or breath), but I do and I love it. I know that the monitor is working because I can hear the ticks, and I know that my baby is fine. It's gotten to where I can't sleep well without hearing the ticking. It's comforting.
4) The actual monitors provided with this system are not very good. They aren't loud enough and aren't as clear as some others. I just use the motion detecting portion of this system and use my Graco Ultra Clear (fantastic) monitors for transmitting the sound to me wherever I am. However, I value the benefit of the motion sensor enough to find it well worth the money even without using the included monitors.
Overall, as a first-time mom, I have saved hours of checking and re-checking my baby and have saved much peace of mind by using this system. I highly recommend it.

Customer Review: Peace of Mind!
Summary: 4 Stars

We have two of these products, one for the crib and one for the Pack N Play. These units give you an immense amount of peace of mind as new parents. I agree with some of the design flaws noted by other reviewers, both none of these affect my willingness to use this product.

The major annoyance for me is that the parent unit has a loud hum to it while in use. We've tried to identify a source of interference that is causing this, but after moving it to multiple places and turning off other appliances we cannot remove the hum. Plus, the same hum exists in both of our units so I think it is standard. It doesn't keep me awake at night, but it is annoying.

Also, I wish there were something on the parent unit that indicated movement. Sometimes, I forget (or am paranoid about) whether or not I turned the nursery unit from "sound only" to "movement and sound", so I have to get up and got check the nursery. It would be nice if there were a blinking light on the parent unit like there is on the nursery unit that indicated a movement.

The sensitivity may take adjusting, our unit initially felt movement from the ceiling fan and, since we have hardwood floors, us walking on the floors. The instructions provide information about how to adjust this so it picks up only the baby movements.

I went out to the local home store and bought two 2x2x1/4 plywood boards to go underneath the unit. This worked fine, just be careful in the pack and play because the rough edges of the board can rip the netting.

All in all, a product that I wouldn't live without.

Customer Review: Wouldn't live a day without it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a second time mom and didn't know this product existed when my 2 year old son was born. Then my second son was born at 26 wks (3.5 months premature) and someone from the NICU told me about this product. I bought it and my son has been using it since he came home from the hospital at 4 lbs. It works wonderful! The only time it didn't work was in the bassinet once he hit about 7 lbs. It kept saying he wasn't breathing, when he was. So we moved him into the big crib in our room and it works wonderfully! It is SOOO comforting to know that I can sleep soundly and if I'm worried I can look over at my nightstand and see the movement blinking light saying that it's working. I also love that it goes off if he rolls off it or is too congested to pick up the breathing. It is good to know the system isn't going to just stop working in the middle of the night without my knowledge.
We haven't had any problems with fans or anything like that as I've read some have. It only goes off if he's not in it or if he's too sick and not breathing deep enough for it to pick up, but that has been very rare.
Overall, I think this is the best thing you can do for your baby. With 1200 SIDS deaths a year, parents should know what's going on inside their babies beds. A baby can just roll a little too close to the side of the bassinet and die in the material of the cloth, and a parent would never know it. With this system, if the baby stops breathing for even 10 seconds, my machine goes off, and lets me know to check on him.
Buy it. You'll love it!
