Customer Review: What a relief - you gotta buy this!
Summary: 5 Stars

My 4 month old just started rolling over from his back to his tummy while sleeping, and the first time I discovered him like this, I panicked. I spent the next few nights getting up several times a night to check on him and roll him back over. He always woke up and cried when I rolled him back, and needless to say, I was very tired everyday. I started researching tummy sleeping issues on babycenter.com and read a post from someone about this monitor. I started reading the reviews on Amazon and decided I had to have this. We went out to Babies R Us that day and picked one up. We have only been using it for three nights now, but we are all sleeping so much better. My son doesn't even wake up now, but I get up at least once a night to still check on him.... each time he is already on his tummy and "sleeping like a baby." We have been using it with the tic on. I just turned the sound down so it's not so loud, and it's so nice to wake up at night and hear the tic which you know is the sound of your baby breathing. The tic sound does come directly from the base, but it doesn't bother my son at all. It's almost mesmerizing..... maybe that's another reason we're all sleeping better. I also do not have any interference or static with the parent monitors unless I have them near the computer or a cordless phone. They are actually much clearer than the Safety 1st monitor we've had since he was born. I wish I would have known about this monitor from day one, but I am so thankful we found out about it now since it's almost impossible to keep your baby off his tummy once he starts rolling over! In fact, we believe the $99 is money so well spent to give us the peace of mind we have now. This product is definately worth a whole lot more!!

Customer Review: Literally A Life Saver!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the first review I have ever written about anything, but I do read everyone elses. That being said, we purchased this monitor before my now 7 1/2 month old son was born, and loved the reviews it had. I have a 5 year old daughter that I was always scared about SIDS with, so I wanted a little peace of mind. I know nothing will take over the job of a parent's watchful eye, but this monitor saved my son the other night. We have never had any false alarms with this monitor. The only time it has ever gone off is if we took our son out before turning it off. While watching a movie the other night, and the monitor right by us, my son was sleeping upstairs. All of a sudden a warning beep went off! 5 seconds later, and me already up the stairs, the 20 second beeps started.

I was so horrified to find my son on his stomach with his face smashed into the bumper pad. I picked him up and he took a huge breath, then cried! I was in shock because my son is crawling and standing up to things now, and very strong. I thought we were in the clear for this type of thing. I was literally shaking and nauseous at the thought of what just happened. We had to keep the bumper in his crib because he kept hitting his head on the bars, but have never had a problem.

The day after, I tested the sensor to see if it just wasn't picking up how far off he was, but it picked up me lightly rubbing the very far side of the mattress...I mean LIGHTLY too.

I was so thankful I had this monitor. I don't even want to say what life might be like now if I didn't.

I have to tell ALL parents out there...take out the bumper and GET THIS MONITOR!!!!

A very thankful MOM of 2

Customer Review: Perfect Paranoid Parent Product
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased this monitor at the suggestion of both a friend and nurse at the hospital for my preemie son. There were a couple of problems with it which made me mostly disappointed in the purchase.

1. One of the parent's units would not work. It was staticky on both channels no matter where I placed it in the house. I had to call the manufacturer - Bebe Sounds - only to be redirected to Graco who apparently purchased the Angel Care monitor rights from Bebe Sounds. After being transferred multiple times and hung up on once, I finally got through to customer service and they did offer to send a new parent's unit to me free. The new unit they sent to me works just fine.
2. Major Issue - The movement sensor began to alarm in the middle of the night, multiple times a night. It would never alarm during the day though. I would check on my son, and he'd be just fine. He was not blue or gasping, he was breathing normally. Even turning the sensor sensitivity all the way up, it still alarmed. We finally called the pediatrician who sent us to the hospital for an overnight sleep apnea study, which turned out normal. So the monitor that was supposed to give us peace of mind just gave us a lot less sleep and stress, and we need all the sleep we can get with a newborn.

On a positive note, the sensor pad was easy to install and sound coming through the parent's units is crystal clear. We do still use this for sound monitoring only but no longer turn on the movement sensor. So far, so good. I'm giving this item a rating of three because in theory it's a good product for paranoid parents like myself, but there are problems with our particular unit that I took issue with.

Customer Review: Best purchase I've ever made
Summary: 5 Stars

I usually don't take the time to write reviews, but this one is worth it because it may save a baby's life. We got this for our son at 8 months because of our constant battle with his respiratory issues. He was always congested, we were constantly giving breathing treatments, and one morning it was so bad, his breaths were so light and shallow it scared us to death. It is basically baby asthma, but they don't diagnose asthma until 2 years. This thing works so good, It makes me feel bad I didn't have it for my other two children. We feel much more confident when we go to bed now. You just have to put plywood (or something stable) at the bottom of the crib and put the sensor on it. It amazingly detects the light breaths of a baby even in deep sleep. At first I would forget to turn it off when I took him out, and sure enough it would go off in however many seconds (I think 20). We have only had one false alarm, we have his mattress and plywood tilted a bit, and he wiggled all the way down to the very very bottom corner and I guess it didn't pick up the breaths and it went off. I check on him and he was fine, I just moved him up. But that was one false alarm in almost three months now. I have no problem with that, I'd rather be safe. Bottom line is, you just can't beat it. It is the same price almost as a regular monitor, and this one does both. By the way, the two monitors are very clear and can go loud. They can both stay plugged in and switch to batteries when unplugged. Our son is doing fine now, but will will still use it for a long time, and like I said, I wish I would have known about it for all of my other children. Great prouduct.

Customer Review: Peace of mind for parents
Summary: 5 Stars

My husband suggested we buy this monitor and I was reluctent at first because of the price. But, how can you put a price on something that could possibly help save your child's life? So we decided to purchase it.

Our daughter is now 7 months old and I can tell you it was worth every penny. From the day we brought our daughter home she decided she would ONLY sleep on her tummy. With this monitor I didn't worry so much letting her. Sure I still checked on her from time to time throughout the night (I never trust everything to technology) but I didn't do it 1/2 as often as I would've with a plain sound monitor.

When she reached 5 months old she caught whooping cough. This monitor was a life saver. She was actually hospitalized when she stopped breathing and without this monitor we never would have felt safe again. You can't even begin to imagine the fear of watching your child turn blue in the face, gasping for breath. Its enough to make you never want to leave their side. But, you can't hold them in your arms forever and yes, we did check on her a lot, but this montior kept us from going crazy and being in her room 24/7.

It does have false alarms, but we found it wasn't until she was old enough to really roll off the pad. Over the entire 7 months we've probably only had 5 falsies. Another nice feature is the movment monitoring can be switched off leaving just the sound feature for when the child is older.

Don't let the price scare you away. Convince yourself early on like I did that you cannot put a price on your child's safety. Without this monitor things may have been different for us.
