Customer Review: GREAT FOR PEACE OF MIND!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

My child is now 8 months old. I moved her to her own room at 4 months old, prior to that she was in her bassinett in our room. I made sure I had the Angel Care monitor set up. Talk about Peace of Mind. I can now sleep in peace knowing that the system is monitoring her breathing.

True, I too sometimes receive signals from other monitors on the static channel, i.e. the channel not in use. This is mainly because the unit was sent to channel A and the receiver was sent to channel B. If I receive an abundance of static, I will double check the channels and realize that I had the receiver on the wrong one again. Normally that is fatigue. I, occasionally do receive interference on my monitor from other items, i.e. phones, lights. I just place the monitor on the floor or move the other item.

Otherwise the sound is very clear and I love the fact that there are two receivers. I have one in our bedroom and one in our kitchen depending on where we are at. I also own a Safety First monitor that has three monitoring units and one receiver. I bought this for other rooms in the house, although I rarely use it.

The Angel Care system is wonderful, we also call it the LOJACK for our kid. If someone removes her from the crib without turning off the monitor then the alarm goes off. She has only triggered the alarm a couple of times. I am not sure if it was breathing or she just moved off the sensor. As a First time Mom I am more than happy to check on her if the monitor triggers. It will give you a warning beep prior to the alarm if the sensor does not detect breathing. My husband loves this system on the rare occasion of a warning beep (half the time our imagination) he goes to check on her regardless of the alarm triggering. I have heard too many sad stories of SIDS.

I love this monitor and recommend it to everyone. It such a small price for a good nights sleep, especially if your kid is sick and finds it difficult to breathe. PRICELESS!

Customer Review: This device is the best purchase I have ever made - bar none!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this on the recommendation of a friend after my newborn choked while napping 2 feet away from me. This is my 3rd child, but this episode was particularly frightening to me because she did not make any noise or evidence any distress and I only happened to notice she was dark purple and not able to breathe by chance. Even though her crib is right next to our bed I was worried it would happen at night and we would not hear her and be able to help her. I bought this angelcare monitor and used it every night thereafter with no troubles - that is until about a week ago. The alarm went off and my baby was not breathing. I had been sound asleep when it happened and would never have known anything was going on. We were not able to get her breathing again easily and she ended up completely limp and blue before she started to breathe again. I had never been more focused and urgent in my life, while simultaneously being absolutely terrified. Our baby was diagnosed with a more severe form of GERD than she had previously been diagnosed with (associated with frequent spitting up). Without getting into a lengthy medical explanation, her version can cause severe apnea (failure to breathe) and death in infants. Our Dr. believes that without the angelcare monitor our baby would have died that night and we would have woken to a tragedy the following morning. She is now on a stage 2 apnea monitor 24x7, but without using the angelcare monitor and having the alarm go off we would not have known there was a problem until it was too late.

I never had interference, feedback, or any negative thoughts, experiences or opinions about any aspect of this monitor. It is unobtrusive and effective. Our family owes this product a great deal, and I plan to purchase this as my official gift to any baby shower I go to, and to recommend it to anyone and everyone I can. Even if your baby has no medial problems, I feel it is better safe than sorry. After all, we thought she was perfectly healthy.

Customer Review: A Peace of Mind, Even for SIDS Parents!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This product is the best product I have ever found for a baby. We lost our first child, Jessica, to SIDS at 3 months & 11 days of age in January 2002. Jessica was a rare case and was awake & being held when she went lifeless and died in the babysitters arms instantaniously. Our second child was premie and weighed 3lbs & 14oz when she came home. Due to Jessica, we were able to get an apnea monitor from a medical supply company to use with her. With my 3rd child, he was full-term and the insurance wouldn't pay for the apnea monitor. I researched and researched the different types of over-the-counter monitors we could purchase and finally decided on the Angelcare. I began using it in a basinette the night he came home from the hospital, moved it to a co-sleeper and he is STILL using it EVERY night and naptime and he is 16 months old. We only had 1 false alarm with it and I am still unsure why it went off. At 16 months, he is all over the crib and it never alarms. It is amazing to me how it works, not sure if it picks up on heartrate, breathing or what, but you can watch the light flash with every movement it detects. It is the only way my husband or myself have been able to get any sleep for the past 16 months and I am still not ready to stop using it.

Not to terrify any parents, but they say with TRUE SIDS, the baby CAN'T be saved. I knew this with my last 2, but I still had to have a monitor on them. At least I know if something goes wrong, I will be in there immediately and know that I did everything possible to save the baby....not find them 3 or 4 hours later.

I would and DO recommend this monitor to anyone I know that is expecting or has a baby. I can't say enough wonderful things about it and just hope they still have them around whenever I have grandkids! The best thing any expectant or new parent can do is purchase one of these....it will give you the peace of mind that your baby is alive and breathing!

Customer Review: Every Bit as Necessary as a Car Seat!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this monitor! Every young infant should sleep with one of these. I think it is just as essential as crib, diapers, clothes and car seat - I think it could and has possibly already saved lives.

First of all, there are false alarms. Or perhaps they are not false at all and the baby has indeed forgotten to breathe - either way, I will never have to know. That, to me, is worth the cost 100 times over! After so many seconds of no movement (10 or 20), the monitor beeps and if there continues to be no movement, an alarm goes off. It does go off in the baby's room as well but it is not loud enough to wake the baby - just loud enough to remind her to breathe. People say the alarm is extremely loud but I find it no louder than an alarm clock.

The sound quality is superb. I hear as much as I want or as little as I want. We have not encountered static or interception from other monitors.

Our daughter recently had a cold and the pediatrician suggested we prop up one side of her mattress with a pillow for congestion. I was upset because I thought we wouldn't be able to use the monitor but it still worked! We just tweaked the sensitivity which is adjustable, and scooted the sensor pad to the side of the crib that was not propped up. I was thrilled because the monitor came through for us in the greatest time of need. I didn't think it was possible, but I loved it even more after that.

If you are even considering this product, and you must be if you're reading reviews on it, just get it. It pays for itself over and over again in the way of peace of mind. I know I wouldn't get quality sleep without it like I do now. My sleep is quality and quantity because of this monitor. It is more important than exersaucer or baby swing or play yard - it could mean your childs' life. I think SIDS would be nearly nonexistent if everyone insisted on having one of these.

Customer Review: Greatest Monitor for Peace of Mind!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This monitor is the only piece of baby equipment we purchased that I've felt strongly enough about to write a review. It is absolutely wonderful. As new parents, we researched every kind of monitor out there, and finally settled on this one. It has given us the peace of mind to be able to sleep, knowing our baby is safe. I've read the other reviews, and I think that, even with a few problems, this monitor is well worth purchasing. It gives an audible "beep" with each of baby's movements (i.e. breathing). Yes, I know this is not a true apnea monitor, and it is not guranteed to prevent SIDS. However, I have found it to be very sensitive and accurate. It gives a warning beep, followed by an alarm after no movement is sensed in 20 seconds. This gives us enough time to get to our baby and intervene (CPR) if something did happen. As for the other reviewers having problems with false alarms-we've only had 3 or 4 false alarms(our daughter is 5 weeks old) when the baby moved to the edge of the sensor pad. However, I'd rather have a false alarm than no alarm. The unit can work with the movement beep on or off, and the sensor pad will trigger the alarm when no movement is detected. We leave the beep on-the baby seems to like it, and it's reassuring to us-almost hypnotic! Also, when the baby gets older, the unit can be used without the sensor, as a regular sound only monitor. To minimize false alarms and for the unit to work properly, it's extremely important to follow the setup directions, and you will need a square piece of plywood (use the size given in the directions) if you have springs under your crib mattress to have firm support for the sensor pad.
The only other flaw with the monitor that we've found is that it does get some interference and static from our electronic equipment, but this is minimal and we're willing to live with it. I hope this helps!
