Baby Products Reviews of Bebe Au Lait Nursing Cover, Mint ChocolateCustomer Review: Beba Au Lait vs. First Years Nursing Nursing Wrap Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this nursing cover after having purchased The First Years Nursing Privacy Wrap Scroll. I was extremely unhappy with The First Years Nursing Privacy Wrap due to several factors including inability to adjust the cover tight enough to fit me appropriately, neckline that was too loose and draped dangerously low across my chest, and inadequate material, leaving me feeling that I was constantly exposed in one are or another. In addition, as a first-time nursing mom, I had difficulty getting my baby latched on and was often left to try to blindly help my baby latch on since I could not see him with this nursing cover.
So, I spent the extra money and purchased the Bebe Au Lait Nursing Cover. I love this nursing cover! I can adjust the strap so that it fits me perfectly. It has a rigid plastic piece in the neckline to allow you to be able to see your baby and be able to assist with latch-on. There is plenty of material so that I feel that I am well-covered from every angle. I would highly recommend spending the extra money and purchasing this nursing cover! I am extremely pleased with this nursing cover.
Customer Review: What a life saver! A must-have for nursing mothers Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this because my four month old boy can be so active while nursing (kicking and squirming). It is impossible for me to hold onto a blanket and him at the same time (sometimes I feel like I need three hands just to hold onto him). And I got tired of having to go to an empty room (or the car) every time I nursed him outside our home. I resisted buying this at first because it seemed so pricy. I finally broke down when I had a baby shower to attend and thought it would be rude to hang out in a bedroom half the time. I am so glad I bought it becuase now I use it everywhere, even in restaurants.
The great thing about this (besides the hands-free covering) is that the top stays open, so I can see what he is doing at all times, without having to let go of him. And it is pretty big so even when he kicks, I still stay covered. The fabric is pretty light weight, which will be good during the summer. There are pockets in the bottom corners, so I think I could weight it down and still use it outside even if it's windy, but I haven't tested that yet.
Customer Review: Not for everyone... Summary: 3 Stars
I have received three nursing covers. The Bebe Au Lait is of higher quality and easier to use. It is generously sized. However, I still have difficulty with it. I believe the trouble stems from having a larger chest (F/G cup size), which means that when my little boy nurses, he is fairly low -- unless he is supported by a pillow and my breast by a towel or burp clothes or my hand. The material creases and folds inwards between the stiff rim and my son's head; therefore, I can no longer see him. It also makes latching on properly a nearly impossible feat. When using it in more public locations, I have had to latch him on with the cover tossed to the side (along with modesty), then covering up. Based on the pictures, it seems that I have to hold my son lower than the women modeling the cover hold their baby. I will continue practicing with the cover; I think eventually I will find the right way to position myself, the baby and the cover so that I can remain covered and comfortable... and if not, it still is my preferred option for nursing in public.
Customer Review: Easy to use, truly discreet! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this (finally) before taking a trip with my 5 month old which involved flying. Until then, the extent of my nursing in "public" consisted of either the ladies' lounge at Nordstrom, the car in random parking lots, or (twice, in a pinch), a handicapped stall in a bathroom. Never again! I'm a VERY private person, but I made my husband check out whether this was full coverage, and he promised it was totally covering everything that I didn't want out on display (including my tummy/back where I pulled up my shirt). It worked great on the plane, in the airport, and also in restaurants. It's much better than just using a blanket, since it can't be pulled or fall off your shoulder. Also, the boning really does work--you can see your baby easily, and you can see to put your clothes back together when you are finished. As an added bonus, it was fantastic to get my baby to sleep on the plane, it blocked out all the lights and stimulation so she could get a nap. I just wish I had bought it 5 months sooner!
Customer Review: Great product! Summary: 4 Stars
I looked into several different nursing covers and even used one that was mostly a blanket with a weight on one end, and this was by far the best one. I love that it covers so much, since I am extremely modest and do not like being exposed in public at all. My daughter absolutely HATED the other cover from the minute I put it over her and would kick and squeal, but with this one I can actually get her to nurse well. She still gets tired of being under it after a while (who can blame her)and likes to look at the pretty designs while she's eating (ouch!), but overall I've found it easy to use. The opening stays open, though it took me some time to get the neck adjusted so that it would. You will also want to make sure it's not bunched up at the shoulder, since that will cause it to close on you. I would recommend it and would buy again!
