Customer Review: Pretty, But Can't Quite Get it to Work

This nursing shield is certainly attractive---I love the chocolate brown and blue pattern, and I am grateful for the terry cloth corners on the inside of the 'skirt' portion, but I can never quite get the top part of the cover to drape right. Although the top hemline of the shield has a stiff border that allows it to stick out to (in theory) enable you and baby to have an unobstructed view of each other, the rest of the material is pretty flowy and ends up sitting on my baby's face or draping/falling in such a way that he gets tangled up and becomes VERY irritated as he tries to nurse. Many nursing attempts with this cover have resulted in wrestling matches between my baby and the material, which inevitably end up with me tearing the cover off and just nursing him out in the open as discreetly as I can. When this isn't an option (when more modesty is appropriate), my husband has had to sit and hold parts of the material away from us so it doesn't drape across my baby's face or impede his view of me. I have tried to adjust the neck strap to rectify this, but it has not resolved the issue. In short, I would say that I like the aesthetics of the cover, and in a pinch will still try to use it, but I was relatively disappointed in it. More recently, I've found it more useful for covering up when I'm pumping on the go (i.e. in my car). I probably would still purchase this item again because it's better than nothing, but I wonder if there's some way it can be made with a slightly more stiff material.
