Baby Products Reviews of Basic Comfort Contoured Changing Pad by Summer InfantCustomer Review: Wouldn't have gone without it Summary: 5 Stars
I had one of these for my first and only, and it was one of the most useful things I had. I used it a lot on the bathroom floor after getting him out of the tub, just tossed a towel on it, and I could wrap him up and know he wasn't going to roll anywhere. Lightweight but one solid piece so you can move it around with one hand (because the other one is full of baby!). I didn't have a "changing table", this was it! Wherever this was, on the bed, floor, sofa, was the changing place. All in all, a great item. I didn't have a cover, don't know if I would have used it, it was easy to wipe clean. Worth every penny. Unsexy it is, but it's a very useful baby gift.
Customer Review: Rips even with cover Summary: 3 Stars
I've been using this to change my daughter for 9 months, and have always used it with the cover that I purchased separately. However, it now has two small rips in it despite the cover. The plastic outer fabric just isn't durable.
I do like that you can screw it to the dresser for safety. The strap to secure the baby, however, gives a false sense of security. Babies are WRIGGLY creatures from about 7 months onward. My baby simply wriggles onto her stomach and crawls out of the strap within seconds. Best not to use the strap at all and make sure you simply pay full attention to the baby so she doesn't go headfirst over the edge of the dresser.
Customer Review: Excellent Changing Pad Summary: 5 Stars
We had a hand-me-down changing pad to start with, and it was also contoured, but we decided to replace it after a few months. This pad is considerably better. I don't use a liner because that's just one more thing for me to wash, and this pad is all one piece, so there are no nooks and cranies for things to get trapped in. On our previous pad, the sides were velcroed on, I guess so you could make it flat if you wanted, and it was horrendous to clean. I like the contoured shape in general because it keeps my son (6.5 months and a wiggly little one) in place. He hardly even tries to roll on it. Of course, now that I've said that....
Customer Review: contoured changing pad Summary: 5 Stars
The changing pad is wonderful. It was a baby gift from me to friends' kids who were having a baby, in Brooklyn, NY. When it was shipped, I asked for a gift card to be shipped with it, by Amazon. The card was NOT shipped with the product, and the recipients had no idea who it came from. I finally asked my friends to ask the kids if they had received a changing pad and let them know that I had sent it. They did ask, and the parents were very glad to know who to thank for the gift. They love the changing pad, but not the way Amazon carried out its order.
Just thought you should know.

Customer Review: rips up almost immediately Summary: 2 Stars
I'm not remarkably picky about these things and we were happy to get this changing pad at such a great price with lots of colored liners to choose from. However, it rips up almost immediately. This may not seem like a big deal - it won't bother the baby if you have a liner on it. Then you realize every time the baby wets the mattress it is soaking into the foam core where you cannot clean it! Next thing you know you have a forever pee-soaked foam thing sitting on the dresser. Yuck. I hate to spend more money on a different one, but we're having our second baby and may have to upgrade.
