My main complaint about this piece has to do with the sharp edges! Once my son could lift his head and scoot backwards (at four months) he was constantly banging is head against the corners at the indentations along the side rails. One time he rolled over and scooted back simultaneously and knocked his forehead right on the corner resulting in a nasty bruise above his eyebrow. I had to put a towel along the edge to provide padding. I was also constantly worried that my son would scootch or roll right over the short rails. My other table has large rounded edges at the front and back (like a sleigh bed) and my son seems more comfortable on it.
I disagree with the reviewer who said that the quality isn't very good. I have two nursery sets. This set is currently in my house and a cheaper set by Graco is at my in-law's house. The Graco crib and matching changing table scratches, dents and looks generally cheaper than this one which is 2x the price. I also own a dresser set by Ikea which scratches if you so much as brush up against it! I haven't had any issues with the dresser scratching at this point. The matching crib does show some slight losses and gnaw-marks where my son has been using the crib rails as teethers. But I think anyone would be naive to believe that wouldn't happen. I've been generally impressed with the quality of this drawer set and the matching crib. We were able to put these together easily and have used them without issue for almost a year now. It's nice knowing that I'll still be able to get some use out of the drawers.
I do believe it is expensive for what it is. But you're paying for the unique design and look of it. It's like shopping at Banana Republic vs Macy's. If you're looking for attractive solid-wood furniture to last a lifetime with little evidence of wear then you'd have to pay even more ($1,000s).
