Customer Review: Very poor design - after about 4 weeks of use

Not only is this poorly designed, so far... no response from the company. I really took the advice of friends when I bought this, but I didn't consider asking more than two - one I didn't know (word of mouth) and the other only had hers a month when she recommeded it. She doesn't like it now either. The problem is in the blue ring around the top. It comes loose after a bit, especially if someone uses it and say "forces" it to turn when it won't or just sheer misdesign (not sure which), and then doesn't work very smoothly. In fact it's annoying to be wrapping a diaper (which is annoying in itself) with a newborn crying and then turn to use some perceived wonderful item to find it getting stuck and not working at all. I'm going to try the diaper genie NOW.Customer Review: Don't waste your money...

This was a great idea, however the diaper champ does not deliever on its promise. At first you think it's working well at 'trapping' in the odors, but in reality newborn diapers don't really have a bad odor. Once the baby starts to eat some solid foods, that's when the odor really starts to get bad and the diaper champ does not seems to be able to trap the odor well. Also, I had a difficult time pushing the lid from side to side because the blue rubber ring around the top started to pop up and catch on the bin. So, I had to use two hands to turn it instead of just stepping on the foot pad and pushing with one hand.
I would not recommend this to anyone. It's a waste of money!

We love our Diaper Champ. We haven't had any problems with smell or diapers getting stuck (been using it for 8 months now). You have to be sure to wrap the used diapers up well before throwing them away so nothing leaks out. We have done this and haven't had any problems with the Champ getting dirty. We have two small dogs who love to get into smelly trash. The Diaper Champ keeps them out and the smell in. The dogs don't even know there are diapers in the room. We use vanilla scented trash bags from Target, which help mask the odor when you change a full bag. When we are done with diapers, we plan to use the Champ as a garbage can in the house since it is so good for keeping our dogs out.Customer Review: Better than the Rest!

I have the diaper champ and an 8 month old baby - I love both! ha ha - seriously it uses any bag (read: the safeway shopping bags, kitchen garbage bags etc) - we found some scented bags (which hide any smell when you go to change the bag) and they fit perfectly and are about $1.29 for 30. I hated the diaper genie and it's expensive refils, you have to push the dirty diaper thru the hole with your hand - not here - the diaper champ allows you to stick the diaper in a hole and turn the handle.
The only downside if there is one - is the opening/ closing mechanism on this is sometimes a bit tricky, but well worth all the other positive features! I recommend registering for this!

My daughter is now 20 months old. This unit does control the smell but wipes get stuck and sometimes diapers so that you have to move it back and forth to get the thing to move and get rid of the diaper. If I have to open it up and pull out the dirty wipes just to get the thing to move how sanitary is that? It is worse when it gets full but still. Also after using for this long the smell when I open it is overwhelming. The plastic just seems to hold the ammonia smell. And I only use it for Pee diapers. You can Lysol or bleach or whatever but its BAD when you are changing the bags. I'm pregnant with #2 and looking for something else. With 2 sets of diapers its just going to be too much.
