Baby Products Reviews of Baby Trend Diaper Champ in BlueCustomer Review: The Best Cheap Way to Go!! Summary: 5 Stars
I read all the reviews from everyone else and all other diaper bins...It get exhausting and repetitive over pros and cons. But my fiance and I were looking for something that would handle the smells, and nothing be big and bulky, and most cost efficient. The is the best cost efficient one out there by not having to by special bags to go with it. That was a big part in that we are using cloth diapers and sometimes disposable ones too. I know other reviews said that this one smells sometimes;and yes it does...It has for me on occasion, but only when my daughter was having bowel movements everyday a couple times a day and with he disposable diapers the smell can build up if not emptied when the bin is nearing full. Come on who wants to take a bag of dirty diapers to the trash can at 2 a.m.?? (that's when I noticed the smell and it was only when I had it opened waiting to put a diaper in it...
I say for the price, size and future savings this is a great disposal system.
Customer Review: Best diaper disposal I found! Summary: 5 Stars
I had the diaper genie, and used it until my son was 1 years old. I really liked it when he was small, and so were his diapers!( My husband, though, hated taking a dirty diaper and putting his hand down until it caught in the "teeth", he thought it was gross!)With the diaper genie, I was emptying the genie evry 2 days because there was limited room for bigger diapers, and therefore, buying more and more genie refills. That gets to be expensive. I bought another pail, a cheapie form kmart. Hated it. That's when I saw the diaper champ. I fugured, let me try one more time with a different one, and then I give up! Well, I didn't need to give up. I love this thing. It is so nice to just drop a diaper in, and flip a handle- it'sa gone. Another plus, you just buy regular trash bags. If i had a registry to do all over again, I would register for this!
Customer Review: Does the job but lacks in capacity Summary: 4 Stars
I've used the Diaper Champ for 2.5 months with twin babies. It keeps the stink contained and is usually easy to use. There have been times when I couldn't flip it over, but it might be because a wipe got loose or a diaper wasn't rolled up real good (directions state the wipes cannot be placed in the compartment by themselves - just wrap them up in the diaper). My only complaint is the storage capacity which is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5. The container looks like it would hold more than it does. With twins, we are changing a 4-gallon bag once a day. I recommend an 8 gallon bag. A good thing about this container is that it can use any bag (or none if you are in a bind). I recommend the Safety 1st Pail over the Diaper Champ since it can hold more and is similar in performance.
Customer Review: The Best Ever Summary: 5 Stars
I know people are saying they are having problems with theirs but i must say i don't have any problems with ours. we bought one and it is great there is no smell except when you open it to take the trash bag out of course. there are no expense to buying refill bags it takes any type of bag you have, and as long as you follow the instructions not to stick loose items in it, just diapers that are taped closed by there waist band then you should not have any problems.
I did notice that when i was in the store buying ours i was playing with one that was sitting out and the rubber rim around the hole was not on right and it caused it not to turn so just make sure the rim is on right before you buy it, i fixed the one in the store so even if the rim is not on right it is fixable.
Customer Review: Newer Models Not As Good Summary: 3 Stars
With our first child nearing four and a newborn in the house, one of our two diaper champs (one for upstairs, one for downstairs) kicked the bucket, its foam sealing ring tearing out.
I went got a new one and was pleased that they'd stopped the silly detachable base nonsense and was glad it was easier to open. Only one problem, the new mechanism will sometimes catch wipes, hold onto them, and toss them out the next time you flip it. My wife and I have noticed it do this multiple times, particularly when it's getting close to full.
So far, it hasn't tossed any terribly soiled wipes on the carpet, but we're just waiting for the day. It's still better than a diaper genie in many respects, but the new design did not go through decent QA testing.
