Baby Products Reviews of Baby Einstein Take Along TunesCustomer Review: Keeps my son's attention Summary: 4 Stars
I've bought several small toys in the hopes of keeping my 11 month old son entertained when we go out for dinner or even a stroll. Many of them end up in the corner of his playpen after he's grown tired of them 5 minutes in. This toy is different - he will play with this for a long time - it really keeps his attention. Maybe it's the music AND flashing lights, but he just loves this toy. I attach it to his stroller with a sippy cup strap so that when he drops it (or throws it), it doesn't make it to the ground.
I would give it 5 stars if it played more songs (I think it has 4-5 songs), but I would definitely recommend it either way.
Another toy I would highly recommend is the Mozart Cube - that is another invaluable toy that keeps my son's attention much longer than any other toy. And the music is nice - not annoying like so many toys can be.
Customer Review: Great toy - amazing price. Summary: 5 Stars
I picked up this toy because Amazon listed it the number one selling toy of my son's age group at Christmas time. It was under $10 so I figured why not? My son (now 7 months) enjoys it and I certainly got my money's worth.
As others mentioned, the sound is clear and not annoying. There are lights that catch the baby's attention too. The button doesn't take much to press which is great for young children who don't have good small motor skills. It's east to take along in a diaper bag and the handle allows you to attach it to car seats, exersaucers or whatver with a toy attacher. I can't get over how cheap it was for the quality of the product. It also has two volume levels as well.
It's definitly a baby toy, but older kids are amused by it too. I've had to rescue it from his older brother's (3 & 5) rooms on occasion.
Customer Review: So simple, big hit Summary: 4 Stars
Since it didn't cost a fortune, I purchased the BE Takealong Tunes on a whim while selecting some other toys, etc. for our son's first birthday. Now I wish I had bought it sooner. It's small enough for little hands, and the music is very pleasant... each piece is artfully arranged and just the right duration (i.e., not tooteling on and on, driving a parent over the edge). The only thing that is a bit of a disappointment is the center button...to me, online it looked like four separate buttons (perhaps to select the different songs), but it's really just one big button. OK, that's no big deal (like I wrote-- simplicity), but I didn't like that the paper-y decal partially came off within the first two days of normal use... the blue note just wore off without much contact. Still worth the purchase. Especially good for the car, stroller, pediatrician's office, etc.
Customer Review: Wonderful toy for calming a fussy baby Summary: 5 Stars
We actually got two of these as gifts for our (then) 3 month old. I took one look at it and figured it would annoy us but decided to keep one in the car (for fussing during trips) and one at home. I had no idea what a hit this would be! Unless she is absolutely starving it calms her cries almost instantaneously. The 4 songs it plays are good classical songs that don't annoy and the blinking light patterns are fun to watch. My friend's 1 year old discovered it one time we visited and will likely be getting one of her own as she would not put it down.
I love that it has an on/soft/loud switch as sometimes it needs to be louder when baby is crying. Plus with the off switch it won't get bumped at the wrong time. The caterpillar handle is also the right shape for little hands.
Great toy to have around and a real surprise for us.
Customer Review: Make sure your baby tries it out first! Summary: 3 Stars
After seeing the great reviews, I picked this out for my daughter. She seemed interested in it in the store, so I thought I couldn't go wrong. I first got it for her at 4 months old. She looked at it blankly as I showed her the buttons and pressed the music. I decided to put it away and tried at 6 months. Same reaction. Now, at 8 months (and in full-on play mode) she understands she has to press the buttons to get the music... but she still doesn't play with it. The most she does with the toy is uses it as a teether... which is fine, but not the original purpose. I will agree the music isn't too loud and the quality is great. However, make sure your baby actually seems interested in it before purchasing it. I will keep trying with her to play with it- but as of now- this is one of those toys that may be going to good-will before too long.
