My son received this toy when he was 2 months old. At that time, I would hold it up in front of him during tummy time and he would be mesmerized. He was so distracted by the pretty tunes and blinking lights, he forgot that he was "working out" (he hated tummy time before this toy). He is now 14 months old, can push the button himself, and he still is drawn to the lights and even sways back in forth in time to the music! Like other reviewers said, its portability is key! The music is 4 classical tunes, which is a nice change fro the typical annoying kid songs on most other musical toys. Another bonus is that the toy has a low and high volume setting, so the music never gets irritatingly loud. A must-have!Customer Review: Great toy! Well worth $12.

We received this as a gift for our son when he was a newborn. Then, he was fascinated by the lights and sounds, even though he could not hold it or push the buttons. It still holds his interest at 7 months, and now he can manipulate the songs. It's perfect size and shape for a baby's hands. You do have to turn it on for your child, but we love how it has two volume levels, neither of which are too loud. The songs are pleasant; we don't mind hearing them repeated even after all these months. A great toy!
***However, I do see the price is currently ridiculous on Amazon. I'm not sure why. This is a great toy, but DON"T PAY $50. Find something else similar, I'm sure there are other good options

This is one of the first toys we bought for my son when he was around 1 month old and interested in more than just sleeping and eating. He loved it then and he loves it now, a whole year later. It is the only toy, besides his stuffed animals, that he still enjoys on a daily basis that has had for that long. The music sounds great and isn't annoying. It's small and easy for him to carry and it is also very hardy, as my son has dropped it in stores, parking lots, and tiled kitchen floors many, many times. It's great for in the store or in the car. Really, it's great anywhere. I love it when he pushes the button and holds it up to his ear and dances. So adorable! I highly recommend this toy!Customer Review: Sturdy, simple, the music is great

This is the one toy that my 2 boys (5 and 2) will fight over every single time; we had to buy 2 of them just to restore family harmony in the car. It's their default travel toy and they ask for it every time. Both of them love putting it up next to their ear and listening for 20-30 minutes just as much as they enjoy watching the lights.
This is one of the few music toys that plays music selections that are long enough for to be entertaining (and for parents that know the tunes, the pieces are not annoyingly edited or cut short). It's not obnoxiously loud, either, which is AWESOME for parents, and the batteries last a long time too.
Highly recommend this toy!

We received the Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes at a baby shower for my son; he's now a year and a half and it's still going strong. I'm amazed at how durable this toy is- he's tossed it onto a hard floor from about a 3 foot height causing it to stop the current song, but it still works. We also haven't had to change the batteries yet, and he plays with it almost everyday.
It took a little while for my son to become interested in the toy- probably when he was about 8 or 9 months old; but since then it has become one of his favorite toys (for short periods of time) and it works well to help keep him distracted during diaper changes so he'll lay somewhat still on the table.
