Baby Products Reviews of Baby Einstein Take Along TunesCustomer Review: Best Entertainment For Baby Summary: 5 Stars
We have been using the Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes since our little one was about 3 months old.
At 3 months old it was difficult for our little one to actually hold this toy by himself as it is a little bit on the heavy side. If this toy had two handles instead of one, it would make it easier for babies to hold it by themselves a lot sooner. It would also help those babies that have a preference for using their left hand, like our baby does. Our solution was to help our baby hold this toy and press it for him to get the music going. What I also noticed at this age is that our baby did not like biting into this toy because it is a hard toy. Our little one enjoyed soft, plush toys to bite at this stage. However, the music & the lights played by this toy always captivated him.
At 6 months of age, our little boy is enjoying this toy a lot more. He now has the strength required to actually hold this toy by himself. He still has not mastered entirely the fact that hitting it gets the music going. He does get the music going a few times, but it is more like an accident. I'm sure with time, he will get this. For now, there is no problem because we're around to press it for him. Pressing the button is a small tradeoff for getting through 30 minutes at the breast pump, or through dinner. My baby now likes to bite it as well. He also likes to toss things now and this has yet to break. I think if it did break, I would purchase another one.
Another thing I like about this toy is that batteries do not need to be replaced frequently. We have yet to replace the batteries on ours and we use it practically every day.
I suspect the Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes will be in our household for a long time. I believe it will continue entertaining our little one for a good while longer.
I am grateful for this toy and recommend it to others.
Customer Review: Lifesaver for diaper changes! Summary: 5 Stars
I just love this item! We received it as a gift - we actually were given two. I took one back, but later wished I had kept the second because it was a lifesaver for keeping our newborn entranced whenever she was fussy. I would have kept one upstairs and downstairs. Seriously, she loved it from practically the first week, and she's now 7 months old and still loves it. For the first 6 months, we used our Gracco pack-n-play downstairs to change her on. What we did, was remove the diaper wipes cover from the changing table (just pop it off, it's useless), and wedge a box of Huggies wipes in the cavity. Works like a charm! Then take the handle of this Baby Einstein toy and jam it in between the wipes box and the cavity, so that baby can see the lights while she's being changed. And voila...a cure for the fussy baby! Fancy, huh?
As for the features, a continuous mode might be nice, but the songs are pretty long for a kid's toy. The songs are really nice, too, and the sound quality is good. It isn't too loud, and is generally pleasant to listen to. The lights will fascinate even the littlest of babies. It's not super-easy for her to pick up because the handle is a little big for her hands, so she has conked herself on the head before when holding it over her head. At least she can learn cause-and-effect that way, right? She sometimes presses the button herself to activate the music, but doesn't really get that part yet. Overall, this is an A+ toy that I would recommend whole-heartedly. The end. :-)
Customer Review: Could Be Improved... Summary: 3 Stars
At first sight, you will be very happy with this toy. However, after I've owned this toy (for my infant son), it's somewhat a hassle at times.
Pros:
-Lights go off that are extremely appealing to a baby
-Music is also quite appealing to a baby, and has 2 different volume settings as well as an off feature
-Easy to grab and go when you're on the move
Cons:
-The buttons you press to activate the music & lights are WAY too hard for ANY infant - you have to do this yourself for your baby
-Hard plastic so you have to watch your baby to make sure they don't slam this into their heads and get hurt
-The hard plastic is at times too hard for your baby to chew on for teething relief
-Batteries seem to die down a little quicker than desired
-After only 4 months, the 4 colored areas you press to activate the music/lights are starting to fade, so now white areas are starting to show through
Overall, I would suggest this, but only after you read the pros & the cons. My son got this at aged 4 months, and at now 7 months
he still loves it, but there again, to turn this on in any way, I have to do it myself. When you press the button to turn on the music/lights,
the songs only play for about 15-20 seconds - so this is not a toy to give your infant if you're attempting to work & focus on anything.
I hope this helps you if you're wanting to purchase this.
Customer Review: The best $10 dollars you will spend for your child Summary: 5 Stars
I have a 10 month old daughter, and she has fallen in love with this toy. I bought this because of its portability and size, but the small package has delivered so much more.
The sound from the single speaker on the back of the 'Takealong Tunes' is extremely solid for such a small speaker, not tinny or hollow what so ever. The lights move in time to the music, and the whole thing is light enough for her to easily carry in one hand while she crawls around the house.
The large button-like wheel on the front is extremely easy for her to push, with just enough resistance that it isn't going off incessantly, and the colorful caterpillar handle is a natural draw to her mouth. The only minor complaint I would have is that I wish the handle were rubberized instead of hard plastic since it is in her mouth so often.
I thought I was buying a good sound & lights toy for the portability since it is not always easy to drag larger flashing, blinking, booping toys around with us, but I feel like I've gotten so much more out of this potent little package.
It sooths her when she's tired, entertains her when she's awake, and has become her best friend over the past month or so.
I would highly recommend this to any parent, another winner from Baby Einstein!
Customer Review: Awesome baby toy! Summary: 5 Stars
I think they must have gathered a lot of feedback from parents before they made this toy, because it has every feature I've ever wished for in a baby toy. My baby is my third child, so he doesn't get many new toys. But I bought this for him and think it was a fabulous investment. We keep it in the diaper bag, and get it out for the baby when we're out and about and we want him to be entertained and calm.
Things I like about it:
* The songs that it plays are long.
* It plays real classical music.
* It has an "off" switch.
* It is not loud. There's a volume control that has two settings.
* The button is easily pressed to start the music, even by a baby.
* The handle is easy for a baby to grip.
* My baby has dropped this toy a lot of times, but it still works fine.
* The flashing lights keep my baby's attention.
* There are seven different (long) songs in here, which is enough variety that I don't mind listening to it for a long time.
* My baby is fascinated by this toy.
There's nothing I don't like about it. It is an all-around good toy. And there are very few toys that I'd say that about.
