The Discover & Play Activity Gym is a soft play gym with fun Baby Einstein characters on the mat that correspond with hanging plush characters. There are 10 accessory toys included to help stimulate the baby. The toys include a star shaped plush with lights. Press the center of the star and listen to classical music from Beethoven and Bach as you watch the lights dance to the music. The star can be removed and used on toy bars and cribs. Other toys include plush characters that crinkle, rattle and squeak, a soft book with animal pictures and a mirror for baby to see themselves. A prop up pillow is also included. The Seek and Discover Activity Gym offers a whole world of colorful features for baby to discover. Push the center of the lights & melodies star to hear nine different classical melodies while lights dance to the music. The star can be set for baby motion activation or 10-minute continuous play, and can be detached for use in a crib or the car.

Customer Review: Not Worth the Money

I bought this playmat because of all the wonderful reviews I read. I must be missing something because I returned it immediately. There was nothing special about it, yet it's $10-$20 more than most other decent playmats out there. The toys are okay, but all mats have dangly toys that make some sounds. The best part about this mat is the star that plays music and has lights. But even that is no big deal because it plays for a very short period of time before it needs to be reset. My newborn doesn't have the skills to do it himself, so I had to do it every couple of minutes. The battery ran out within days and that's when I had enough. The real negative about this toy is that the actual mat is VERY small compared to others,and it's paper thin. There is not one bit of padding on it, so unless you have carpeting, you may as well lay your child on the cold hard floor for free. Overall, it would be a decent toy if it were the only one out there like it, but it's not, so shop around. Just because its Baby Einstein doesn't make it worth the price. For those of you who are willing to spend the $59.99 plus tax that this thing costs, I'd suggest that you look into a brand called Mamas & Papas. They make great toys. I replaced this playmat with one called Lotty the Ladybird. It's fabulous. It has a bunch of dangly toys (mirrors, rattles etc) and big mirror that stands upright so your baby can look at himself when he's on his stomach, the feet crinkle, the antenna plays music and best of all it's sooooooo thick and plush that your child will feel like he's lying on a cloud. I looked around for a while, as most places sell it for $89.99, which is way too much for any toy of this type. I finally found it on sale at www.creativeinfants.com for $69.99. There is no tax and shipping is FREE. I ended up paying $7 more than I paid for the Baby Einstein and we are much more satisfied. It's still on sale as of today if anyone is interested.
