Baby Products Reviews of Baby Einstein OctoplushCustomer Review: scratch factor Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this toy when my son was 3 months old and he has really liked it from the get-go. He is now 6 months old and loves the music and the way it says the colors when you press the tentacles. It's great that it says the colors in english, french, and spanish. The only issue I have with this toy is that the velcro flap on the back doesn't cover the music box well. One time when my son was playing with the toy, the velcro gave him a huge scratch all the way down the side of his face. Needless to say I now check it often to make sure the velcro back is fastened properly, but I really have to stretch the fabric to make the velcro line up. Otherwise, it's a great toy and he still loves it. The music is fun and not too annoying, although the songs do tend to get stuck in your head.
Customer Review: It's OK Summary: 3 Stars
I have this toy for my 9 month old. It's kind of cool because you can set it to say the colors in English, Spanish, or French and there are a couple different sound levels to choose from. It also has a few different songs when you press its face that are not annoying. I actually like the songs. My son seems to like it ok. What I don't care for is that if you don't turn it off when it isn't in use it goes off by itself. One day it was saying "yellow" over and over again. Nothing was near it or pressing the button. Also, in the picture it looks like it sits upright, but I've found it's top heavy and doesn't sit nice like it looks in the picture. Also, I have to press the color buttons for him...they don't press easily. (Maybe when he's a little older.)
Customer Review: Awesome little toy! Summary: 5 Stars
My boy is about 3 months old and this has been his favorite toy since he was a few days old. The Octoplush always gets him to smile and giggle. I would buy this 100x over just to see the joy on my little guys face. You can't go wrong.
**ADDITION**
This Octoplush only lasted about 4 months. My little guy chewed/sucked on the legs so much that the octoplush started acting up. It kept saying a couple of the color names over and over, even if nobody touch it. I did buy a replacement and would still give this 5 stars. Now that my boy is about 7 months old, he doesn't suck on it as much, so I see it lasting longer. This is still his favorite toy and still gets a smile everytime!
Customer Review: Even bigger babies like it! Summary: 5 Stars
I've noticed mostly mamas of younger babies have done reviews, so I thought I'd add one for my bigger boy. :)
He's 13 months, and takes this thing EVERYWHERE with him. If he realizes it's in his bed without him in there too, he'll stand there and cry until someone fetches it out for him, then run away all thrilled.
He knows how to turn the music on by himself (has for a few months now), and even knows to push the arms to stop the music. Smart boy!
He's not talking yet (aside from mamamamama ;D) so the colours being read to him still don't register I don't think, but if he stays in love with this another 6 months, then I could see this as helping him learn!
Customer Review: Faulty product - would not recommend Summary: 1 Stars
I thought this was cute, and the reviews indicated that young children/babies liked it, but when mine came, nothing happened when I squeezed the arms or head. Packing (on bottom) states that it comes with batteries, but they should be replaced with alkaline batteries. I thought maybe they were just cheap batteries & that was the problem. Problem is, you couldn't replace the batteries without destroying the packaging. New batteries didn't help, and both sets of batteries showed to be working when tested. Due to the packing being destroyed, I don't feel I can return this, and even though it's cute, I don't even feel like donating it to charity because it isn't functional. Waste of money!
