Baby Products Reviews of Baby Einstein Neptune SootherCustomer Review: HATE IT!!!!! Summary: 1 Stars
We bought this for our 3rd child. Each of the other 2 kids had a different crib toy with the same concept as this one. My oldest had the original Fisher Price Ocean Wonders toy....we LOVED that, but it leaked water all over the battery holder in storage before we had our second baby. For our second one, we bought a super cheap one of these at wal-mart that is fantastic. Then for this baby, we decided to try this one, mostly because of the remote feature. It is HORRIBLE!!! The light stays on all of the time and it is SUPER bright. The music/nature sounds are too loud (I had to put tape over the speaker on the back to muffle it some). I hate that I can't adjust how long it stays on, my kids dont need it on for nearly 30 minutes. My husband threw the box away the same day that we purchased this or it would have gone back. It wakes my son up everytime we turn the light on!!!
Customer Review: Piece of crap!!!!! Summary: 1 Stars
Baby Einstein s the worst musical soother that you could ever give to someone or buy for your child. I received 2 of these so called "soothers" and my daughter is only 6 months old. They don't sooth anyone or anything. The 1st one that I received as a shower gift only played the music but the fish didn't move. The 2nd one I received as a christmas present (09 mind you) and the light part that moves the fish crapped out, now it plays 1/4 of the song and shuts off. Forget the remote, that's a piece of crap too. I am very disappointed with Baby Einstein products. This product didn't even make 6 months, so you really don't get your money's worth. This product isn't the cheapest thing either. So, don't even think about getting this product for anyone that you know that is expecting. It will only make you look bad getting such a crappy toy!!!!!
Customer Review: Battery-eater galore Summary: 2 Stars
My 4 year old son is absolutely addicted to his "fishies". He must have them to fall asleep. He has always loved Baby Einstein, as well. This was a perfect fit for us. However, buyers beware. The 25-minute timer, especially if you have the lights, motion and music turned on is very energy-intensive and requires LOTS of batteries. We have been through at least 200 batteries and we've only had the product a year or so - not so great for the pocketbook or the environment. Also, as others have mentioned, the features stop working gradually when the batteries are low. So, every so often, we have a 'crisis' in our house because "the fishies stopped going around", etc. - always a winner at bedtime! The challenge of the day is to find an equivalent product feature-wise that either doesn't consume so much energy or can be plugged in to the wall.
Customer Review: Our Son Really Loves This Soother Summary: 5 Stars
This soother has worked wonders for us! It entertains our son when he wakes up before the crack of dawn (sometimes for as long as 30 minutes!). It helps calm him when we put him to bed (oftentimes he'll stop crying as soon as we turn it on). He's been able to turn it on himself since he was 3-4 mths of age which is wonderful. The songs are gentle and sweet and not irritating in the slightest. The light doesn't seem to bother him at all, in fact, he turns toward it. Sometimes in the middle of the night we'll hear "phantom music" coming through the baby monitor only to realize that he woke and turned on the toy to soothe him back to sleep. We can't do without this although it does go through batteries fairly quickly (we probably have to replace them every 1-2 mths).
Customer Review: Battery Hog Summary: 2 Stars
We love this product when it works. My daughter is entranced by the swimming fish and loves to watch them move. It's a beautiful toy! However, this toy is about 6 months old now and it has started eating batteries (no extra usage from before!) like nobody's business. After maybe 3 or 4 cycles the fish STOP moving and it only lights up. It seems the problem is getting worse as the toy gets older. I contacted Kids II the company to ask for a new product because it is on a year limited warantee. I wish there was a comparable crib soother that had the scrolling fish because she loves it and like another reviewer--there is crisis in our house when the motion doesn't work.
Wish I could recommend it but it's a battery eater that gets WORSE as time goes on!
