I bought this after I returned 3 malfunctioning mobiles. I really wanted a mobile, as my son loved to watch the rotating toys above his head and would kick his legs and "dance." This, however, had all the other features I wanted (remote, lights, timer, interesting detail) and I really like all the other Baby Einstein products I have. So far the biggest plus is it works! The 25 minute play time is a huge plus, as it often takes him at least that long to fall asleep. I love how it softens in 10, 10, and 5 minute intervals. The motion is bright and fun and my son seems to enjoy it.
My 5 month old son loves it. I put him in his crib, turn it, and he knows it's time to sleep. He doesn't even fuss. If I peek at him from the door, I see him watching it and fingering the moving fish.
My complaints are this: It's LOUD. There are 2 volume settings, and the "quiet" one is quite loud. My son doesn't seem to mind at all though, so I guess I shouldn't. But it's also the motor that moves the aquatic image that is rather loud. But again, the baby doesn't seem to care. My only other complaint is that the remote control only functions for 2 hours after it turns itself off. So if I want to turn it on in the middle of the night, or if I forget until I've already crossed the room, I have to go the crib to turn it on. I suppose they are trying to save battery life, but they could at least make it an option. I have several battery powered toys that I leave in standby mode all the time and the batteries still last a couple months. If I had known this feature, I wouldn't have bought it. But I'm so sick of returning these things. If the remote worked at all times, I would have given it 5 stars. (Oh, and I wish it was a mobile!)

I purchased this after reading all of the reviews on here, mainly due to the long play time, and the gradual shutting down of the crib soother. Apon reciept, the picture here does look much different than the item does in person, as far as the screen - but it doesn't make me any less happy with the product.
One review complained about the volume, buy my soother does have 2 volume levels, and I think even the loud one, isn't very loud. The quiet is perfect.
One review also complained about 2 units that stopped working. I have discovered why! When the batteries begin to fail, the until stops working in phases. All of a sudden the motion wouldn't work on our unit. Because I had read the previous reviews, I initially thought my players was broken too because we still had light and music.
Then a few days later, the light would only work for about 5 minutes at a time, but we still had long periods of music. So I thought yep, its garbage. But then my husband said, well, lets just change the batteries.
And like new - the whole thing works again!!
So I'm guessing that the gradual systems stopping is meant to be an indicator that the batteries are wearing down. It doesn't mean the unit is defective. I didn't check it at first, because I thought they were new batteries - but it turns out my husband and just put in the ones from our old crib player.
So with this revelation, I can say I am perfectly happy with this player. I love the length of play, the gradual shut down and I really LOVE the remote function. I'm happy!

When we first got this crib toy, I would have given it 5-stars: the music is soothing, the colors beautiful, and the scrolling fish help to lull my son to sleep. He's actually become dependent on this that it's hard for him to sleep if it isn't running.
However, after having the product for nearly a year, it started acting up. The motor (for scrolling the fish) doesn't always work and it needs a nearly full battery to keep it running. The music still works as the battery wears down, but it's disappointing not to be able to use some of the features. The auto-turnoff also has failed to work recently leaving the toy running for nearly an hour and draining the batteries quickly. The last time we changed the batteries they only lasted for 2-3 weeks.
The other thing I dislike about this toy is that when the battery gets low, the toy doesn't just shut off- it continues trying to run causing some bizarre electronic noises and occasionally a slow, strobing effect to the light. The last time it did this it woke my son up at 4am and he started screaming.
I give it 3 stars on average- starts out 5-stars, then fades to 1 star. It's disappointing that a crib toy this expensive doesn't last longer.
Customer Review: Buyer Beware...I had two soothers break on me in the first month!

I purchased this soother as soon as it came on the market. I was impressed with the images and the remote control. The sound is a bit loud - I wish there was a volume control, but the underwater images are really impressive and the sounds and classical music is great. When I opened the package, the plastic was scratched but I decided to keep it. However, after only 2 days of using the product, the images stopped moving. I returned it, hoping that it was just a faulty product. When I received my replacement, it worked for about 2 weeks, and then not only did the images stop working, the entire soother would shut off after 2 seconds (images, lights and sound). By flipping the switch to sound only, we could hear the sound. Well, if I wanted sound only, I would have bought a CD player! So, we returned it a second time. Not worth trying for a third - I'm going to find another product that is better quality.Customer Review: Excellent product!

I believe this is one of the greatest items on the current market. I've been using it daily for about 4 month now. I should mention that actually using it in the car, as I have a long commute w. baby on board and can't express enough "thanks" to creator of this aquarium. Traffic and remote control goes together just great! Music is trully nice. It does play long enough for baby to calm down and fall asleep. I want to mention as well, that music tone is as good for an adult ear as it can be. I've used a car mirror w. built-in music but by the end of the week given the tone of those melodies I decided to look for something else on the market. The big button upfront is truly convenient for quick on/off rather than searching for the traditional switch hidden on the back. Overall, I would highly recommend the product. It's music, motion and light keeps baby curious and gently comforts at the same time.
