Simple to use, very comfortable for Parent and Child. The soft cotton vest can be worn throughout a trip--many toddlers will think the bright red fabric and buckles a cool addition to their wardrobe. Three plastic buckles snap at sides and crotch, and the adult's seat belt passes through a nylon loop to secure child to parent. This harness would be a must-have accessory for the frequent-flying baby--if it were FAA approved for use during takeoff and landing. Currently it is not, a fact we felt the manufacturers should make much clearer than they do. During takeoff and landing, then, this simple vest/harness cannot (alas) replace the uncomfortable baby lap belts provided by the airlines, although it meets all FAA regulations for use during flight. --Richard Farr

Used successfully on Hawaiian (interisland), Continental (10 hr each way, hnl-ewr direct), Delta (ny-fla), and Shortline (7 hr each way) bus ride.
Bought the vest to keep my kid's big soft head from whacking the ceiling in case of turbulence. Or bus wreck.
Travelled with my son for 30 days, from when he was 3 1/2 months to 4 1/2 months. Had to buy the toddler vest because his head was already 17 inches at 3 mos old. The opening on the infant vest is only 16 inches. Flew from Hilo HI to Honolulu, then to Newark (direct). 9:30 hours going east, 10:40 going west. He wore the vest the whole way even though he had his own seat with the carseat. When I held him, I used the vest. He was bottle fed only by then so breastfeeding was not an issue. Clothing is a bit of an issue. Get the sweat shirt on under the vest before boarding. Leave legs exposed a bit so he's cool enough. Easy to add the pants later. Also, crotch strap buckle makes for easy changing on the plane. I was carrying him, holding him, walking around a bit to help him get to sleep, but quickly realized he was not safe when I was out of my seat.
Also flew from NY to Atlanta to Daytona. Then back. Going down to Fla, Jack was a lap baby passed back and forth between my sister and me. That was rather hellish. I really don't know how anyone can travel alone with a lap baby. It is very difficult even with two people. Coming back up from Florida Jack was 'baby Karen', since my sister had to return earlier, and used my sister's seat with his car seat. Lucky me they don't really check.
It is no trouble to add the vest's loop to your own seat belt. The loop is just long enough to be comfortable. The straps are soft and the vest itself is padded felt. Side buckles seem bulky but did not bother Jack at all and the crotch strap is wide enough that it didn't do anything wierd either.
The only MINOR fault: I WAS WISHING FOR A FRONT SIDE LOOP AS WELL AS THE BACK SIDE LOOP. It is easier to hold the baby facing me, closer to my seatbelt. Larger kids may be easier to hold facing away from you, so the back loop is ok for them.
