Customer Review: Love the BB Carrier with extra-long straps!

My husband (6' 1") insisted on the Baby Bjoern with the extra-long straps. I am happy to report that it is magnificent, even for short people! (I'm only 5' 3".) It converts to fit either one of us quickly and easily and I have always felt that our son was snug and secure inside. Now that he's older (6 months), he LOVES to face outward and see where we're headed. We toured Colonial Williamsburg (lots of walking and wandering in and out of colonial buildings), quickly and easily with the BB. While other mommies struggled with their strollers and couldn't get into many of the buildings, we whisked through everything safely and easily.
I know many people are concerned that they won't use it enough to justify the price - my response is that you need to make yourself use it! Try it out during a simple walk through the mall or your neighborhood. As you grow accustomed to it you'll realize how easy it is to hook on and go.

I guess I can understand why some people like this carrier. Once you have the baby in it, it is comfortable to wear. However, if you are taking the baby out and putting him back in repeatedly (say, for example, while running errands) for short periods of time, you will get sick of it quickly. It is not easy to balance a baby, especially a larger baby, while attaching the sliders and buttons. I also got uncomfortably hot wearing this carrier, which is padded and almost feels insulated, holding the baby's body heat against me. Furthermore, my baby was unhappy in it, but that is primarily because he never liked being confined in any way.
To sum up:
This is a good carrier to wear with a small baby, for extended periods of wear, in cool weather.
This is not a good carrier to wear running errands or for short periods of time, for a larger baby, or in warm climates.
If your baby hates confinement like my son did, you probably won't find any baby carrier satisfactory.

I tried a Snugli front carrier prior to purchasing the BabyBjorn and was not happy with it. I didn't feel like my baby was secure in it, plus one of the side buckles would slide open by itself when i tried to get my baby in and out of the carrier. I returned it and purchased the BabyBjorn, upon my sister's recommendation.
I've only had it for about a week, but both baby and I love it so far. I wear her around the house with both hands free to type on the computer, do some housework (without bending over of course), etc. The BabyBjorn is great for when we go out and about as well. It's nice not to have to deal with a stroller. Plus, there are MANY advantages to both mom and baby to have the baby carried close to mom often... one of which is carried babies cry less.
I only gave this product 4 stars because I have not had it long enough to completely judge it. I hope to come back after a few months of use to give it 5 stars though!

I have this carrier in red. It survived 24 hours flight, and 6 hours layover at the airports on our recent trip to Southeast Asia. When I had a layover in which I couldnt use the stroller (because it didn't come out from the airplane) I carried my 6 mos old baby all the time. It only hurt my back after I used it for 2 hours nonstop. Traveling with only the baby and my 4 year old son as well as 3 carry on luggages, I didn't have free hand to handle anything else. It's very easy to use, and not as cumbersome as the previous baby carrier I had, so it's very essential for this trip.
The minus thing is, this carrier is not for big babies. My baby daughter is 6 mos old, and almost 16 lbs, and she's fit into the carrier, and I am sure, she won't fit into it anymore, soon. I plan the trip to the same destination this summer, and I have to find a different baby carrier which can carry bigger babies with the same quality as this one.
Customer Review: Great for Mom... Not so great for Dad...

I bought this carrier after reading many reviews and trying them out at the store... My mistake was going by myself. Being 5'7", the carrier works great for me. But for my husband who is 6'4" (athletic build) the carrier does not work. However, I do not think that there is a front carrier that would work for his size. We decided that this wasn't a big concern since I will be the one using the carrier. I have used it on many outings and it is great. My eight-week old daughter is very content in it. It is very easy to get the baby in and out without assistance. It works great for trips when I have both of my girls by myself (i.e. the grocery store - I have the baby in the carrier and my older daughter (age 4) in the cart seat.) I strongly recommend this carrier, as long as you understand that it has limitations when it comes to the size of the person using it -- if you don't, then you will probably be disappointed.
