Baby Products Reviews of BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Air - Gray/White, MeshCustomer Review: Mommy Must-Have Summary: 5 Stars
With my firstborn, I went through several inexpensive carriers, never wanting to pay the high price of a Baby Bjorn.
With baby carriers, you get what you pay for. All the cheap carriers ended up on ebay or at Goodwill.
My incredibly frugal sister-in-law SWORE by her Baby Bjorn, saying it was the best money ever spent on a baby item. So I put one on my registry when I got pregnant with my second. I chose this version because we live in the desert southwest.
I put my 5 week old son in this carrier for the first time yesterday. Within 10 minutes he was fast asleep. I wore the carrier for an hour, doing chores and playing with my 4-year-old. My infant son never woke and my back never hurt (which is amazing considering I'm recovering from a c-section). Neither baby or I ever felt hot.
Five Stars! A must-have for a new Mom (and money well spent).
Customer Review: Well made, kills my back and shoulders Summary: 3 Stars
This Carrier is a good idea, well made, and easy to put on, but frankly i can't wear it for more than 5 minutes with my 3 and a half month old. Also when she faces out (she's looking around now and doen't want to face in anymore and has great head control) the material pinches her legs. I'd say if you don't have back problems it's great. I will say the mesh material washes well.
The way it works is fantastic... face in the baby's head is cradled for when they are newborn, and face out the flap folds down to brace the shoulders. I just can't wear it. Grandma and Dad tried it too and they had the same problem. Back pain within 5 mins.
I also tried the PeanutShell carrier and forget it, being lopsided (over the shoulder) my back lost it right away.
I'm going to try Moby next... we shall see!
Customer Review: Awesome Carrier... Summary: 5 Stars
This carrier works really great. The best part is that it gives really good back support which is so important when you're carrying your baby for a while. I have a sling and love that also but find this to give better support. This carrier is also great as it provides ventilation and the material breathes which helps alot as we live in Florida and it gets really hot here and it doesn't make my baby extra hot. The head support is good and she seems to be quite comfortable in it. The only thing that I don't like or find helpful are these extra straps that are to support the legs, but they seem to be too much of tight squeeze on her legs; I never use those straps. Overall this is a wonderful carrier and it make my life so much easier as I need to get around and to use my hands. Great for around the house or out and about!!!
Customer Review: Superb for shopping and moving around with both hands free!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Our little 10 month girl loves to go shopping aboard this one. You can sit them looking forward so they can peek aroud or looking towards you with the neck support up to take a nap. Very useful and secure carrier, you have both hands free and once you get acustomed is quite comfortable for both you and your baby. This specific gray/white version is indeed quite fresh, yet on cold days you'll need an extra mantle that can be fixed on the neck support with little effort. We have been using this since MJ was about 2 months old and it has been easy to adjust the carrier to match her growth, she's about to reach the specified limit for this one, but it seems she could use it for at least another 6 months comfortably and safely. We're really going to miss this one once it can't be used anymore. Excelent baby-shower present.
Customer Review: Father of twins Summary: 3 Stars
We have 3 month old twins and I have one of these and an old school blue babybjorn. When we travel through airports we use these. The advantage of this gray & white carrier is that the fasteners at the top snap in quite nicely, much nicer than they did in past models. This is also more minimalist in design than the other model...I guess it's supposed to be more sporty, but it feels less secure.
I still find this quite an uncomfortable product and would suggest new parents to consider other brands of slings etc. to carry their babies. After about half an hour of carrying around one of the little guys in this my back really starts to hurt. and the belt strap going across looks odd...it's white but the inside is grey (not matching the other straps...really an odd choice, must be a scandahoovian design.
