I have scoliosis and so I really needed to make sure I had a good baby carrier to make sure I don't do further damage to my back. I had previously read reviews about the lumbar support for this carrier so that's why I bought it. So far, it's been pretty good. I can carry my 16-lbs baby for 2 hours pretty comfortably (still a bit sore on the shoulders afterwards, but it's not bad). The only thing I worry about is that the materials is pretty thick and it can probably get pretty hot. My baby hasn't complained yet though. I might recommend that you look into the newer Baby Bjorn Synergy which is suppose to be lightweight AND provides back support. But, if you like the Active carrier, Amazon really has the BEST price for this item!Customer Review: Very pleased!

I was reluctant to buy one of these b/c of (1) the cost; and (2) the mixed reviews. Now, the only thing that I am disappointed about is the fact that I did not get one earlier. My son was 9 lbs when he was born, and hated every fabric sling that I bought. (They were too confining.) So, there was no chance that I'd have "hands-free" to do anything while he was awake. Finally, I broke down and bought the bjorn w/ extra back support. It's a dream. He falls asleep immediately and I am free to use my arms again. It's not the best for hiking or long walks b/c it can get tiring (like the horrific ninth month of pregnancy). But, it is great for any other short term endeavor. I recommend it. This Carrier was great. We used it on our vacation to CA and it made holding the baby a breeze. Our 2 1/2 month old girl loves this thing, she falls asleep almost instantly. It is very comfortable to wear for a long time. If you have back issues or just don't want all the weight on your shoulders, this is a great buy. You do have to fool around with it to get the right adjustment. The price in the store is high around $130, save your money and buy it online. The best thing about using this is your hands are actually free again and your baby is secure. I too first saw the price of this thing and was skeptical, but when I compared it to others it is worth the extra cost. We definitely got what we paid for.Customer Review: Definitely a must have!

This is a great carrier and worth the money. My son loves to be in it. This is so good for my back and shoulders especially as he gets heavier. Really easy to put on, and get the baby in it without help. The lumbar support on it makes it comfortable to wear. It is supportive enough that I often use it when I go for a walk instead of the stroller and it doesn't bother my back and gives me a bit more of a workout since I am carrying my baby instead of pushing him. It is obviously comfortable for my son too. He loves to face forward and look around when we go for walks and shopping. It definitely is worth the extra amount for the back support if you have any back problems or a big baby. Definitely a must have!Customer Review: Worth the extra money

I bought the original version of the baby bjorn - and had terrible back pain, even for walks around the house. I was nervous spending the extra money for a second one - but went on the advice of a friend who was using the active carrier to take her baby on long walks, without back pain.
I am glad I took her advice. The support straps make all the difference. You have to keep it tight around you to get the benefit of the support, but if you tug them tight each time you put it back on - it really takes the pressure off. I walked three miles yesterday and my baby is 16 pounds - and I felt no pain when I got home. It was worth the money -even the second time around.
