Baby Products Reviews of BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Active, Black/Red

Customer Review: Fine if you just want a carrier for a newborn
Summary: 2 Stars

Don't be fooled into thinking that this carrier is the best by the sheer number of them out there. We were given one by our parents when our son was born and it was fine for the first few months. However, as soon as he hit 15 lbs the shoulder pain became unbearable when wearing him for more than 5 minutes. We did an incredible amount of research and switched to an Ellaroo Mei Hip (also available on Amazon) and have never looked back. They are incredibly comfortable and shift the weight to the hip instead of the soft part of the shoulder. (Our friend has the Ellaroo Mei Tai carrier for her newborn and loves that too.)

Again, this isn't a bad carrier, it just isn't that functional afte rthe first few months. Its also padded in such a way that it is difficult to fold it up small enough to carry in the diaper bag and still have room for other stuff.

Customer Review: Baby and I love the Bjorn
Summary: 4 Stars

This was the most useful gift we received for our baby. At a very young age, my son has exhibited the strong need to explore and see different things. Since he can't crawl yet, it's imperative that he be carried around so he'll be entertained. Enter the Bjorn, a must have in my book.

Pros: Easy to use, easy to clean, offers great support for baby's back and neck. Some reviews noted it offers little or no back support for the person carrying the baby. Our little one is over 20 lbs now and I still use this more than our jogger when hiking. My shoulders feel sore, but my back felt good with some minor adjustment on the lumbar support.

Con: I wished the front panel was expandable. My baby is a bit, uhm, round in the middle, and on times when it's cold outside and he has a sweater on, the front panel becomes harder to hook in.

Customer Review: Great Carrier
Summary: 5 Stars

Our daughter is 4 months old and 14# -- to date my husband and I both love the Bjorn and our daughter loves going everywhere with us. She sits facing out now that she can hold her head up -- the front folds down just fine and stays that way. When she was younger, she loved the coziness of facing in, and her head was well-supported. A carrier is so much more convenient than a stroller and this is very comfortable so far -- we keep adjusting it as she grows. It's easy to adjust, put on and take off. It offers great back support -- I would recommend watching your posture and making sure the straps lie correctly on the shoulders if you notice discomfort. It does get a little warm but as far as sitting is concerned, I'm 5'8" and haven't noticed a problem with this. We're pleased with the purchase and will use it again with our next child.

Customer Review: If I could buy only one baby product....
Summary: 5 Stars

This would be it! The swing, bouncer, etc. are nice, but none of them will keep my baby happy and interested for hours on end. The bjorn is also the only thing that cured her crankiness during teething.

Best of all, I don't have to feel guilty about using it for as long as I want, since she is right there with me.

Like a number of reviewers, I found that once my baby got to about 15 pounds, I couldn't wear the carrier for more than half an hour at a time before feeling back strain. But even so -- I wear it about 3 times a day for half an hour at a time, and that's an hour and a half of housework, cooking (though I don't wear it in the kitchen when there's any heat on -- too dangerous), cleaning, organizing, etc. that I can do while she looks around, wide-eyed, fascinated and happy.

Customer Review: Most Comfortable carrier on the market
Summary: 5 Stars

I have tried a few different carriers and this is my favorite. The back support is comfortable and supportive and it didn't have to tighten to the point of not breathing like some people have stated. it fits me perfectly at 5'7" and my husband is comfortable at 6'3" (I cannot say for shorter people how it feels). It I can say anything negative about it at all it would be the fact that my sons legs/ feet get cold - for that I recommend matching your carrier with a Papooska, I got one as a shower gift - it hooks on the front pack and my dughter loves how it snuggles her in. All in all, I love this carrier and recommend it to all of my friends. I realize the price is steep but if you plan on carrying your child for any lenth of time and you care about your back then price should not be an issue.
