Customer Review: Ubiquitousness does not equal greatness

I got this carrier because I have seen it everywhere, so I figured it must be good. I am writing this review in an attempt to save you from making the same mistake I made.
Baby Bjorn carrier active:
PRO:
-only carrier I have found where baby can face out
CONS:
-weight of baby is not evenly distributed, so nearly all of baby's weight pulls on your shoulders (very painful)
-baby must be at least 8 lbs (slings and Ergo carriers take any size)
-the fabric doesn't breathe, so you both get sweaty even in cold weather
-there are 3 large strips of fabric that hang down, getting in the way
If you are looking for a comfortable, easy to use, versatile carrier that can be used for all ages as both a front, side and back pack, get the Ergo: ERGO Baby Carrier w/ Solid Lining - Black w/ Green. Wrap carriers seem great, too, but I never could figure out all the straps.

We originally bought the less expensive Snuggly. It did not take us long to buck up and buy the more expensive Baby Bjorn. It has been worth every penny. I just bought one for my sister who is expecting her first. The thicker straps have made it much easier to organize as I take it on and off. It is also very easy to adjust which is important as my wife is very petite so when I use it after her, I have to re-adjust all the straps.
My wife and I toted our son all over Italy with this product. My son is now 25 pounds (which I think is the weight limitation) and I still use it when I am working around the house. When my son gets fussy and wants attention, I put him in this while I am working around the house. He immediately quiets down as he watches everything that I do.
As a testament to this product, I have purchased several others as baby shower gifts for friends and family

I highly recommend the baby Bjorn active carrier it is very comfortable. First I purchased the jeep model because it was much cheaper, but after a trip around the block with my 8 lbs, one month old baby, I realized that I need a back support- I felt pregnant again. Thus, I ordered the baby Bjorn model and what a difference, I can do so much more around the house, I also use it outside like going on a hike or shopping. It is much easier than caring a car seat everywhere. In addition, when I place my baby facing me he falls right back to sleep in it. He seems to be very secure in it - just like when he was in the womb. My baby is now three months old and he is at the stage where he gets to see the rest of the world in the carrier. He is very quiet every time I place him in it. from my own experience the baby Bjorn active carrier is the best help I could get around the house - and its well worth its price.Customer Review: Best out there.

We tried several others before buying this. It is definitely worth every penny. We tried several cheaper versions but none stand up to the quality of the Bjorn. This carrier has padding that is very comfortable for baby but not too warm (we even used it in Hawaii), and it is the most comfortable (by far) for me, the parent to wear. I used it from the day my daughter was born to the day she grew out of it at just over a year. I wish I had 'splurged' and bought this with my first. It was wonderful on your back, bad back or not! Very easy to put on/take off even with a newborn. Very easy to adjust. The accessories that you purchase like the cover are also wonderful for cooler weather. Even if you don't typically buy top of the line, or like to pay for the most expensive out there, I would still recommend this. We are expecting another baby and will be using it again.Customer Review: An improvement but not perfect.

The active Bjorn is a great improvement over the original. The back support makes a difference and, if adjusted properly, makes wearing my 14# 3-month old a pleasure. If not adjusted properly, though, it hangs off the shoulders and feels about the same as the original. I have difficulty adjusting it myself and find it's better if hubby helps. We are still planning on getting an Ergo when baby is around 6 months old (we tried the Ergo as a front carrier and weren't that pleased, but it works great as a backpack.) I also find that I need to stabilize the Bjorn with one hand while bending over or squatting down so that baby doesn't flop around. And, it seems that a back carrier (Ergo or Mai Tei) would be better for holding baby while making dinner--the Bjorn is not a good idea near the stove! Overall we are pleased with the Bjorn active for hikes and walks to the park.
