Baby Products Reviews of BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Active, Black/RedCustomer Review: Stylish, easy to use....BUT kills your back! Summary: 3 Stars
Over the course of three children we have had FIVE carriers: Two slings, a Baby Bjorn, a Snugli and the Ergo Baby.
The Bjorn is definitely the best looking and easiest to use. The clips and connectors are very intuitive and it's easy to get smaller infants into it.
My big complaint is that when the kids get larger (or if you wear it for more than 20 minutes at a time) it really starts to kill your back. This is because the design keeps all the weight on your shoulders. It's like wearing a backpack BACKWARDS!
The "Active" version has wider straps which provide additional support for a small improvement over the "Original," but it still puts all the weight on your shoulders, pulling them forward.
If you only plan to use this when grocery shopping and think you'll give it up when they're 6 months old, this might be for you. If you think you might want to go to the park and hang out, or use it even when the kid starts to crawl, then the Ergo Baby is probably more your speed.
p.s. this is coming from a guy who is 6', 180# and fit. My wife is smaller and far more critical of the ergonomics of this carrier.

Customer Review: A Must-Have Baby Item! Summary: 5 Stars
The Baby Bjorn definitely ranks as a "must-have" item for me. I have a three-year old and a three-month old, so it's important to have my hands free whenever possible. During my three-year old's "mommy-and-me" class, I'm able to wear my younger son in the Bjorn and he usually just falls asleep. I also use it at the grocery store, as well as for doing chores around the house.
What I like about it:
1. My son feels really secure and safe in the Bjorn.
2. It's really comfortagble to wear. I had another type of front carrier with my first son, and my shoulders got sore really quickly. I can wear the Bjorn for quite awhile and nothing hurts!
3. After taking the time initially to figure out how it goes together, it's really easy to put on and off, and to get my son in and out of quickly. The other carrier I had, you had to slide the baby into the seat, while making sure to line up his or her legs with the holes. Since the Bjorn just folds up around the baby and then attaches, it's really easy.
4. It's machine-washable. :)
I would definitely recommend the Baby Bjorn, and I'm not sure what I did without it for my first son!!!
Customer Review: Good product! Summary: 5 Stars
I read others' review before I purchased this product, and I was very excited while waiting for it. Then the first time that I put my son in the carrier, he was a little bit fussy. I realized that I neglected his possible reaction and felt bad of this purchase. But that was just a one-time thing! He loves being carried around in this. Like many other reviewers said, every time that my boy gets really fussy, carrying him in Baby Bjorn calms him down. It's definitely worthy of the money! Several people have commented on how comfortable I look while carrying him, and how happy he seems to be in it.
Update: My son is now 9-month old, around 19 lbs, and I still carry him in the Bjorn sometimes. I used to carry him for a couple of hours doing shopping, but he's getting heavy on me now, considering that I'm only 5'2". He still enjoys in it and smiles every time when I put him in. He likes being able to see the world, facing forward. The only problem that I encountered is that he likes sucking on the front piece, which is usually right in front of his mouth and which ends up being really wet, so I always tuck a burp cloth there.
Customer Review: A good investment Summary: 4 Stars
Initially, I wasn't sure about spending so much on this carrier, but it has been a great investment. Those first few colicky months, strapping my baby into this and going for a nice walk was sometimes the only way I got any sanity back. He loved it and so did I!!! As it got cooler outside, this was also handy because I could strap my baby on facing out and put a big coat over both of us zipped up so that just my baby's face was sticking out and we were both snug and warm and ready to go for a fall walk! I gave it 4 stars though, because as my baby got to be about 17 pounds, my back starts to get pretty sore wearing him in this. I don't think I will be using it til 25 pounds, but I still got a lot of use out of it!
Update: After reading numerous rave reviews of the Ergo carrier and really wanting a carrier to use hiking, I bit my lip and bought an Ergo. I was really shocked at how comfortable a 120 lb woman carrying a 20 lb kid on her back could really be! So, for a really young infant, I still think the Bjorn is definitely handy and I'm glad I purchased it, but for heavier children, I'd definitely recommend the Ergo.
Customer Review: For the larger baby Summary: 5 Stars
If you have a larger baby (height wise) who loves looking out at the world this can be a good choice but as noted one does have to have the muscles for wearing the Bjorn. The only advice I can give is wear the baby a LOT and you get used to it.
We started off with a basic Bjorn which we still use often (it stays in the truck for running errands) but for hiking we got the Active. I can get it it on, put the baby in, adjust everything and then put my day pack on my back without anyone's help - which isn't easy to do with a back carrier for a 6 month old. Our son hates looking inward unless it is nap time and when he drifts off all I do is pop the 2 top clasps, open one side, flip him around and reverse everything. Takes a couple minutes and is second nature. I can get about a 4 to 5 mile hike in before my shoulders and back have had it - our son is around 20 lbs now.
I can fit the baby in a thick bunting suit in it and as well you can tuck a blanket under the front area when they look out for extra warmth over their core.
On a side note the back support doesn't interfere with my day pack and I love that.
