Back when I first became a parent, I was really taken in by all the useless junk that companies convince new parents they need. Now that I've had my second child, I've taken a much more practical approach and have only purchased items that are truly useful. When I began feeding my first child baby food, I quickly realized that cloth bibs were not ideal, so I turned to the plastic bibs with pockets. While these were great at preventing food from ending up in her lap, they were also a pain to clean. I'd have to wash them in dishwater, and then hang them inside out to dry. Inevitably, the decorations on them would start to fade and the plastic would become thin and brittle. I also hated it when she began eating things like teething biscuits and other crumbly foods because trying to get the crumbs out of those pockets was a major pain.
Babybj?rn pretty much had me at "dishwasher safe". Having to hand wash anything is not all that practical for me these days, and the dishwasher gets things much cleaner and more sanitary anyway. These bibs are on the rather expensive side, but I decided to invest in them to see how they would work. I really can't stop raving about them. They are ridiculously easy to clean. Even if you don't want to put them in the dishwasher, a quick wipe with a damp rag gets rid of all the nasty stuff baby leaves behind. The molded plastic is awesome because the pocket always stays open, so these bibs catch every last dribble. This was not always the case with the pocket bibs I used with my first child.
The closure is very nicely done. It's easy to manipulate even with one hand, rather than having to tie it on as I did with my daughter's pocket bibs. It's also a good length and should see my son well into his toddler years. He's a big boy as it is, and there is still plenty of room to spare.
I can't say enough great things about these bibs. They are simply fabulous. I love them so much that I bought one for a cousin's baby shower. As I told her, I wanted to get her only things that I have tested and loved and I'm very confident that she will love this bib as well.
