Baby Products Reviews of Avent Isis Via Breast Pump KitCustomer Review: good little pump Summary: 4 StarsI bought this pump because my electric (a hand me down) works sporadically and I didn't want to spend $300 for a new one.
I was leery when I read some reviews, especially the one saying it didn't work if you're larger than an A engorged. I was a 36 DD/DDD before I my pregnancy so you have an idea of where I am breastfeeding. This little pump works GREAT.
A few cons:
-It does squeak. I use it straight out of the sterilizer and it's better.
-It does leak by the cup...but so did the electric. I just hold a paper towel underneath (I have to support anyway).
I had one user error too. There's a piece a little smaller than a dime with a star (*)... if you don't put it in right (flat side to the bottle) you will be there forever and not get more then a few drops. It happened twice before I realized my mistake.
Customer Review: Piece of Crap Summary: 1 StarsSave your money and time. This pump has no suction, better to go with electric. It's completely useless if you are any bigger than an A cup - fully engorged.
I pumped exactly how the instructions said, tried it over 10 times and never got more than 1 drop out, even when I let-down and it was dripping out without me doing anything. Even when I was leaking, the minute I put that thing to my breast, all flow ceased. This is a piece of crap!
Customer Review: Save your money and Buy an Electric pump Summary: 2 StarsAfter receiving the Avent Isis Back to work Manual Pump at my shower...I thought I was all set. Until I had the baby, successfully breastfed for 3 weeks, and tried to "Hand Pump" and it did not work. And of course, once you open these packages...you can not return or exchange. So I bought the First Years Easy Comfort Single pump, (only 40 dollars more)HOPING, that this would work for me. AND IT DID. I unpacked it, and was able to pump 4 oz on the first try!! Save your money and skip the manual pumps...they may work for some people, but spend the extra few dollars for a really good electric one and be sure that you will be making a good investment!
Customer Review: Extremely painful Summary: 1 StarsUsing this pump was extremely painful and it still didn't even work. I highly recommend an electric pump.
Customer Review: Works well for the price but time consuming Summary: 4 StarsI bought this pump first. (I also bought the Medela Pump in Style Advanced). It is easy to use but it took me about 20 to 25 minutes to pump a 4 oz bottle and of course that is one breast at a time. The handle makes a rather loud creaking sound which can be lessened if the diaphragm part is wet during assembly. If you are going to use it more than once a day, it is time consuming to run the dishwasher or boil the parts. I recommend a sterilizer or Medela's sterilizing bags.
The VIA system works well but the package recommends only 3 uses per container before disposing. That felt too cheap for the price. Also, if you are going to freeze breastmilk, the containers can take up a lot of space in a standard refrigerator freezer. I recommend the breastmilk bags.
