Baby Products Reviews of Adiri BPA Free Natural Nurser Ultimate Bottle Stage 1 White, Slow Flow (0-3 months)Customer Review: Evaluate before purchasing Summary: 3 Stars
First, In order for these bottles to work with your baby I would suggest evaluating if they actually resemble the size/shape of your breast/nipple. If it does not then I would suggest trying something else, but if it does then these may work for you.
Pros:
1. The flow on Stage 1 is very slow which works well and does not overwhelm breastfed babies.
2. These bottles are very convenient and easy to clean. I never had a leakage issue when filling them (just used my thumb instead of the cover) and they are very easy to clean since there is just two parts.
Cons:
1. Because the nipple isn't mailable it doesn't allow baby to get a very good suction and allows them to pull in air from the side of their mouths. The breast naturally forms to the baby's mouth, not the other way around.
2. As purchased, these bottles do not work in a bottle warmer. I found this out the hard way. If you are using these bottle to reheat breast milk you have to purchase an additional piece for it to work (only [...] for 3, but still not very convenient). I thought this was a little crazy since the bottle is nearly [...] each already.
3. I've been using them for about a month and have started to notice a distinct discoloration. This doesn't affect the use of the bottle, but it does look dirty even after its been washed.
Customer Review: My daughter prefers the Breastflow Summary: 1 Stars
The Adiri claims to be a "nurser" bottle that simulates breastfeeding, but I beg to differ!!
My family recently took a road trip and realized that we had the wrong size nipples for my breastfed daughter's bottle. (She normally uses The First Years Breastflow bottle.) In an act of desperation, we stopped at the nearest Babies 'R' Us to buy the correct nipples, since that is the only store I know of that carries the bottle. But this particular store didn't carry the Breastflow, so we opted for the Adiri instead, since its package claims that it feels like a real breast. However, this claim is very misleading. The Adiri bottle is shaped much like a real breast, but it does not perform like a real breast.
In order to breastfeed, a baby must open their mouth wide and place it over the larger part of the breast, not just on the nipple. The Adiri did not allow my daughter to do this, and as a result she ended up frustrated with milk dribbling out of the bottle and down her chin. In my opinion, The First Years Breastflow bottle is a much better bottle for breastfed babies if only because it allows the baby to put their mouth over the large part of the nipple, making the transition from breast to bottle much easier for both mom and baby. I would never use another bottle, and it's a shame that more stores do not carry them.
Customer Review: Excellent design for breastfed and formula babies! Summary: 5 Stars
We tried MANY baby bottles and this is the only one that our newborn latched to without any problems! The bottle is shaped like mommy's breast and the material used for the bottle nipple is soft against the baby's lips and face. The clear cover that goes over the bottle keeps it clean. Our baby had no problems transitioning from the breast to this bottle and back again. The round valve at the end of the bottle regulates the air inflow and allows milk to flow into the baby's mouth smoothly. This minimizes the chance that baby would gulp in too much unwanted air. The bottles are also BPA free. Make sure you read all the instructions on how to assemble the bottle to prevent leakage.
We have since graduated to the Stage 2 bottles (blue color). We purchased 4 of these bottles and use them daily. They have held up beautifully to the constant use. We like this so much that we have already purchased the Stage 3 (orange color) ones! You can buy warming caps to put over the bottles so that they can be immersed into warm water or into a bottle warmer. We also snap on the caps for traveling. The added bonus is that they also look "cool" - the bottle design always prompts positive comments whenever we feed our baby at restaurants....
Overall, we are very pleased with this nurser and would recommend this to anyone!
Customer Review: The worst bottle we've tried to date Summary: 1 Stars
We've been testing bottles with our newborn. Born Free, Medela, Avent, Nuby, etc.
This pricey little item is probably the worst bottle we've ever tried. (Though our baby doesn't really complain about it). This is our list of issues:
- The flow rate on the newborn nipple is the fastest of any bottle we've tried, it's not even close to a real breast. When I turn it upside down, milk comes rapidly dripping out right away (no, nipple does not appear to be damaged)
- It's a nice big nipple, but not really like a breast. It's no better than the Nuby, with perhaps the Nuby being a bit better actually
- The volume markings on the side of the bottle are near impossible to read. Add to the fact that you have to fill it while in its "sleeve", which adds another translucent layer, you might as well forget about measuring out quantities.
- It is near impossible to warm up this thing. You cannot warm it with the "sleeve" (well, you could, it'd take forever), but you cannot warm it nipple-down without the milk leaking out. You can't warm it nipple-up either, because the stupid "petal valve" at the other end will leak out the milk too.
Did the designers of this bottle ever try USING this thing to feed a real baby?
Customer Review: Worked great for my lil' boob lover. Summary: 5 Stars
This bottle is great.
We were using Avent originally, which my daughter was fine with, but I wanted something BPA free. Not crazy about glass. Adiri looked intriguing.
My daughter is breastfed, and I think she just prefers a slower flow, so we bought the clear stage 1 and at 9.5 months she still uses this one happily.
I always pump and put my milk into bags while at work so my partner warms the milk in the bag, and pours into the bottle. I don't see this as a huge pain, it is easier & quicker to warm the milk in the bag than in the bottle itself (the plastic is thicker in avent & other bottles so it takes longer to heat the milk).
If your bottle leaks either the cap & the bottle are not tight enough, or the petal/air flow cap is not completely dry. You just have to make sure it is dry and the caps are on tight. Somewhat of a pain to explain to new people...like grandparents visiting from out of town who then accidentally spill a couple ounces of your liquid gold..haha.
Overall a great bottle. And on a side note my friend's daughter refused numerous types of bottles until the adiri...
