Baby Products Reviews of 4moms Cleanwater Infant Bath Tub with Digital Thermometer

Customer Review: A great techy tub, but with problems
Summary: 4 Stars

I got this tub as a gift on the baby registry. I had seen some other reviews and thought this would be an interesting tub to use.

Pros:
1) the temp sensor works very well when it works (more on that)
2) the tub offers multiple drainage outlets
3) the constant flow of the water in this is very nice indeed
4) nice and strong construction
5) soft pad to lie the baby against

Cons:
1) temp sensor unit is NOT 100% watertight, though it tries to be. The weak point is right over the display, no rubber o-rings there. Super bad design choice there. Not much water will get in - but even a DROP of water is bad for electronics! Mine had about a teaspoon of water in it when I opened it up to check why it was malfunctioning.
2) temp sensor switch is FRAGILE. Mine got a loose connection (display would turn on and off by itself) and now refuses to turn on at all anymore. I took it apart to try to fix the switch - its a cheap metal bubble type switch, and also discovered no rubber seal over the LCD display which is the place it's going to get splashed the most!
3) The tub is larger than you think it's going to be.
4) could have more padding. Infant heads bang up against the plastic. You have to have 2 people to bathe an infant in this.

Overall, I like the tub, but the selling point is the temp sensor... and that's a fragile piece of equipment. Maybe I shouldn't expect 100% quality for the price, but I would be willing to pay a few more dollars for a sensor that has better design towards being waterproof and with a better switch, like a microswitch instead of a cheap metal bubble type thing which experiences metal fatigue and dies after 3 months of use (I pressed the button maybe twice a day at most for 3 months. I think that the switch should be more robust!)

Customer Review: Best invention ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

So we started out with the Rainforest tub and were very frustrated with the dirty water. We stumbled on this product one day and thought it was worth a shot. It was the best $40 we spent. It works exactly how it says it does and baby loves it too.

I read the other reviews and want to address some of their concerns about the tub.

Complaint #1: Baby does not fit...
Well My son is 7 months old and weighs a healthy 20 lbs, and he fits just fine. He will probably out-grow it in a few months, but will be realy for big boy bathing. Since he is no longer 12 lbs., the dirty water does not drain properly on the opposite side of the drain. But just slight wiggling of the baby or just some paitence and the problem is solved.

Complaint #2: Plugs leak...
I have had this tub for almost six months and plugs work perfectly. If the plugs are leaking, it may be from improper care of the product...letting water sit, not getting all the soap out, leaving a wet rag on the plugs, leaving it in the sun.

Complaint #3: The thermometer breaks...
Again, I have owned it for six months and the thermometer works great! I run the water from the faucet gently and water never touches the device, keeping it in perfect working order. If you are running the water over the thermometer(which is silly because there is a reader in the water flow that reads the tempature away from the electronic thermometer) on full blast, yes I can see why it would break.

In conclusion, as long as you are not using this product irresponibly, It works exactly like it claims. The best tub on the market and 2nd to the boppy, I think one of the best baby products out there.

Customer Review: Best tub I've tried
Summary: 5 Stars

I am very pleased with this 4moms bath tub. The tub fits nicely into my double sink (you can use this in a single sink as well). It also comes with an adaptor if there are different sink heights. There are multiple drain's which so far have worked perfectly. Some reviews stated they leaked.. mine have not (yet) but even if they did, I'd still love this tub to use in the sink. My daughter is 3 months; and the tub is recommended 0-6 months. She doesn't play to much yet, but I felt the water level was just right. I absolutely love the thermometer and the clean water system in this tub. Sure, anyone can bath a baby in any type of bucket, tub or container. A bath is a bath... but this is a comfy one for mom and baby. My daughter slants a bit in the tub, but still quite safe and nothing one of those space mats can't fix (for a newborn I'd definately recommend one of those mats as they can really slip in) This tub is a step up because of the extra features that make it easier on mom or dad. A thermomer makes it easy to keep that comfy bath and not constantly check the water... its definately an extra visual aid and it changes color.. water is cold (blue), warm (green) or hot (red). The clean flow system definately helps keep babies water clean but constantly creating that flow of fresh water in one area, dumping to baby area, and then out.. and it does make a difference. I've tried 4 other tubs.. and this one tops them all. The first 3 I returned immediately after trying and retrying. The last I used for her first 2 months but wasn't fully pleased with it, but it did its job. All in all, this ones a keeper for me and I am pleased.

Customer Review: I've tried them all and this is the best!
Summary: 4 Stars

As a nanny for many families with newborns, I used just about every tub on the market and for the most part, I did not like them. Previously, the Eurobather was my favorite tub but I hated the large size of it and had no room to own one for my own child. I had resigned to not owning a tub for my baby and was just bathing him the good old fashion way (in the kitchen sink, leaning back against a towel) when my husband's aunt bought this tub for me. I totally fell in love with the clean water feature. Usually the baby tubs only hold a small amount of water that gets dirty and cold within a minute or two of starting the bath. With this tub, I am able to scoop and pour clean warm water on my son throughout his bath, in addition to the water that he sits in being constantly replenished with clean warm water. My son tends to sweat, spit up and poop a lot so having a tub with clean water is great.

My only complaint is the same complaint I have with every tub. None of them (aside from the Eurobather) seem to hold the babies up at a very good angle. My son was born at 10lbs and starting using this tub at around 11lbs. Even then he was always slipping down into the water and he was in danger of ending up with his mouth and nose being in the water if I did not keep one hand on his chest to hold him up. He is now 16lbs (at 2 1/2 months...yikes!) and is able to keep himself up but that did not happen until he hit about 13 lbs. All in all, hard to manage with a smaller baby but we did not have to wait too long to hit that milestone.

Bottom line...Not totally perfect but the best choice compared to all the others.

Customer Review: Loved it for 6 months!
Summary: 5 Stars

We used this bath from day 1 (er, well whenever she got her first bath at home anyway), and it's been awesome. I love that the water is more or less fresh - as baby started to grow the flow was a little more obstructed so that meant that the 'old' water was stuck on the side of her that didn't have the drain - but that's ok. I love that the thermometer told me when the water was getting too hot, which happens occasionally as toilets are flushed or other baths are run in the house. I also loved the water reservoir that allowed me to dip the cup into it for fresh water to rinse her hair.

It did leak out of each of the drainage holes, which wasn't a huge deal because the water was constantly running, and we used it over the double sink. My only wish is that it fit babies for a longer period of time. My baby is 6 months and petite (25th percentile, so not a large kid), and she has outgrown it. Her head sticks out too much, so when I wash her hair the water goes outside the tub instead of staying inside, and she got so large that the volume of water around her was quite small.

The tub comes with two levels - you can plug the bottom hole to make the water level higher, but because of how it fit on my sink, I couldn't use the higher level because every time my daughter splashed (which was, well, all the time), the water would come out the side and soak me or the countertop.

Overall, I'd buy it again and wish I had it with my older child!
