My wife and I found the concept of this tub to be really intriguing. We're both very hygienic and always found those normal tubs with standing water a little disgusting. We added this to our baby registry and were excited to have received it at our baby shower [makes for quite the impressive gift since it's in a big box, amazon gift wrapping on this thing is awesome!]
We've been using it for 5 months now with our little girl. It's so easy to toss this thing into our double basin kitchen sink, turn on the water and set it to the right temperature [which is a very generous range on the thermometer depending on how your little one likes it.] The thermometer has an alarm system which goes off if the water gets too hot, which actually has been useful as busy parents we sometimes get impatient and think the water is just right before the water truly heats up properly. It's easy to realize you made a mistake when you're prepping the little one and the thermometer beeps once to let you know that it's getting too warm, if you ignore it it'll begin to beep repeatedly [I only know from testing it when we first got it!]
I know some people have written negative feedback about the thermometer on this tub, which was completely true. Our thermometer began to take on water and stopped working. !!HOWEVER!! I sent a very nice email to info@4moms.com letting them know of my problem, and within 5 days I had a new upgraded thermometer sent to me. The new unit is actually designed to be water tight, and comes with a water tight twist-close battery door [which now takes 3x 'AAA' batteries] instead of a screw down door [which took 3x 'AA' batteries. After a few uses, the new thermometer has worked beautifully and was VERY easy to swap out with our old one as it came with clear instructions with color photographs.
I also thought about you future 4moms tub buyers! The Sales Manager at 4 Moms states that all of the new tubs sold from Amazon should come with the new watertight thermometer assembly [you'll know you already have it if it takes 'AAA' batteries]. If you DO receive a tub with the old 'AA' thermometer, simply send an email to info@4moms.com [keep it nice, they're friendly and helpful] and they'll send out a replacement.
Our ONLY issue with the tub, is that there isn't a pluggable drain on the bottom of the tub on the right hand side of the tub. The only reason this is an issue is that our baby's butt makes a perfect seal with the tub, preventing dirty water on [her] right hand side from draining out of the hole on the bottom.
There is a pluggable drain on the bottom on the left hand side, a pluggable drain on the wall of the tub on the right hand side, and an open drain higher up on the wall to prevent the water from getting high enough to fill the tub too much. This isn't a deal breaker at all, since we just lift her up a little and it drains out once we're done rinsing her off! Small issue but worth noting.
Recommended? HIGHLY! Without question! It might be a bit pricier than some of those $10-15 tubs, but this tub earns every cent. Especially when you factor in the amazing customer service.
